personally... i think it is abusive.

i know that this form of punishment (public humiliation) is used in some third world countries but i thought that it wasn't used in developed western nations because we were more conscious of individual rights (including the right to be treated with respect) and so forth.

what is next? branding her forehead?

interesting that her mother concludes that she must love her daughter since she hasn't killed her...

i suspect that this is an expression of her mothers pathology over anything else...

I can't imagine how this will effect that poor girl...doing what is right for fear of being humilated as opposed to developing a heathly idea of what right and wrong is all about...

I'm going to take stab that either the father isn't in the home or if he is that both parents were not very good at setting limits early on.
