I want to take a beginner's improv class. And i am terrified. To take the first step. And go. Saying this, I know i have an issue with fear here. And I want to overcome it.

I feel like this isn't healthy, but I get really jealous and sad when I think about one of my friends on my friends list on Facebook. He does improv. Some people might say, "talk to him about it, see what it's like." I don't want to. But I do want to take an improv class. That is all I know.

I do social things, and they are boring to me. I think that improv might be different. It might be exciting. I just have a hunch and have wanted to do it for a very long time, and fear got in the way every time.

I'm just talking. But could use some encouragement.

Go for it!! Do it StarrySky!!! If its something you've always wanted to do, I encourage you to do it! And it may not be a bad idea to reach out to the guy who did the Improv on Facebook, he may have some insights that might be helpful. But no pressure!

Take the class and see how it goes. I wish you the best!

Go ahead! Take the Leap! Our minds tend to jump immediately to the worst case scenario (it is called catastrophizing) without thought to what is actually most likely. List out for yourself what would happen for the best case scenario. Now ltry to list out what is the likeliest things to happen. Are the two lists that different? What would it take to make them so? It is probable now that if you were to consider your fears of the worst that you realise they aren't very likely. It should also then be easier to make yourself a plan.

Go for it. What are you afraid of? What's the worst that can happen? And if it does so what!!!.
I 'd really like to do stand up comedy but I'm afraid people might laugh at me.

Sounds like fun. Don't feel sad or jealous because one of your friends is enjoying themselves. Take the plunge instead. I did a bit of theatre/drama many years ago and the fear is pretty much real for everyone. Its like they say that the number one fear is public speaking. The thing is, once you have done it you realise the fear was internal - all coming from inside - and overcoming it is the best feeling in the world - like a natural high.

Post back once you've gone and let everyone know how you feel then.
