if anything..

is their anything about your illness you are really embarrassed to talk about?

i've got 2... 1 is my sleep issues, they are so bad- that i've probably broken the world record for lack of sleep multiple times, and my other one is therapy.. i read about people who have seen 3 or 4 therapists and are now satisfied that it's helping, i've now seen 9- and it's still not helping

so what about you. is their something you don't like to talk about?

I hate people finding out I self harm. I do my best to hide it as much as I can. Even when I've been inpatient I keep myself covered so other patients don't see.

I'm not embarrassed by my illness but it is my financial situation which humiliates me. I am on disability, which is essentially social assistance. I am so embarrassed by this - especially when I m in situations that people don't know and start berating people on welfare as lazy bums

on the subject of self harm, i hate it when someone sees you do it, and they have that look on their face that says.. i know you did it, i know you just SI'D but they still ask you.. so, where did that blood come from?. (as if they are actually in denial you've done it)

it makes no sense

Or when they ask how you got those scars even though it's obvious and they know the answer...

I don't have too many scars but they are apparent; especially during summer as I tan. I aware people notice and sometimes am humiliated by it. But I also have a feeling of 'good-damnit' that people see that I have been in pain. I am proud of being a survivor. People don't see the pain of Depression but seeing the physical indicators of it I think makes them understand little.

I wouldn't describe Tourette's as an illness, however, "embarrassing" is indeed a very befitting descriptor. I make odd sounds and movements all the time. I believe that to be a sufficient explanation of why.

Sudden tantrums, hissy fits and strops - I feel I have let myself down and alarmed people for no good reason.
