Anyone else being triggered by 'memories' appearing in their Facebook feeds?
It's not that life is bad right now. In fact, other than my financial limitations it is actually fairly good. But, it is not complete and memories from a time I was living a full life have been triggering a mixture of emotions. I feel happiness recalling the occasion. I feel a touch of sadness I am missing that in my current life. And then some resentment at the inability at being unable to have that now. I was on top of the world 5 years ago and this time exactly then I was on quite a happy and exciting adventure. I am being bombarded with photos of such. Aaaaaarg! |

Also a tool I use for me is that I periodically go through my timeline and delete any posts that I no longer want on my facebook time line. its easy to do. just click on your name at the left of the home page where they list your name edit profile and your posts. and then work your way down your page deleting non relevant to today posts and any other posts you no longer want posted on facebook. this way only the memories (past posts) that you want to show up will. I go through my posts on a monthly basis cleaning them out. Most of my friends and family dont look beyond that days status posts anyway lol |

Not my own memories, but other people's posts. That is why I don't use Facebook anymore.

I suppose I could turn them off. I am considering now doing so now I suppose. And yes I seem reluctant. Perhaps I am a glutton for punishment then? I guess I could do so temporarily; I mean, the pictures lately all seem to be of a lengthy holiday taken 5 years ago. It would makes sense then to turn them off until after the anniversry of the trip was over.

That's one of the reasons I don't have a FB account. I don't think FB would be healthy for me for several reasons so I don't do FB.

Due to health & other life changing events, my personal posts aren't about things I've experienced or people in my life. They're inspirational quotes, for example. It's a bit depressing that my own posts don't show anything significant. I try to view them as a reminder to get out there & participate, as best that I'm able.

I've switched off the automatic Memory feed as suggested - and I'm a whole lot happier.
