I pulled into my Mom's house today and all at once the power door locks started going on and off so fast I couldn't get out of the car. I even turned the ignition off and held the key in my hand, and I was still trapped. I'm too tall to crawl out of the thing. The windows helped, since I'm claustrophobic but I'm glad I didn't have a hammer with me. I would have broken the window in my panic. I've got to take it to a mechanic tomorrow and get it fixed. I'm afraid to be in it. I'm still shaken over something as silly as that.

I am so triggered I feel like I've got fire in my veins.

Jan

PS. Everyone but me was highly amused by it, and I guess it did look funny.

Oh ((((((((((((((((((((((( Jan ))))))))))))))))))))))))

That could be very unnerving I'm sure!!

And I'm so sorry for this but I have this vision in my head of the locks going up and down and you trying to use the handle to open the car door and not being fast enough...Like in some kind of comedy movie....tee hee...I'm so sorry Jan...I just can't help myself.....

I truly hope you are ok.....and I hope it won't do that to you tomorrow until the mechanic gets into the car and sees for himself!!

((( Jan )))

The feeling of being trapped is excruciating for me so I can understand how scary it was.

Can someone go with you tomorrow to bring the car in?

((((((((Jan))))))) That is why this time around, I didn't buy a car with power windows and locks -- because on my last car that had them, something went wonky and they stopped working completely. Unfortunately, I discovered this in a Taco Bell drive-through, which would have been amusing except that I was HUNGRY and I couldn't roll down my window to place my order! (Or get out of the car and go in, for that matter.)

I'm sorry this happened. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

(((((((((( Dear Friends )))))))))))))

Thank you each and every one for answering. I have no one who can go with me tomorrow and it's a long way away, like a 30 minute drive on the interstate. The driver's window doesn't go down right and I'm scared to death to get into that thing. I was so afraid it was going to catch on fire because the locks were turning so fast.

The front tires are bald, there are more or less no rear brakes and now this. My little car used to be so nice and the person who hurt me took it and trashed it and I sat in that car today and thought, "I'm going to die in here and he will have won and no one will ever get him for it."

I'm so sorry, I just can't take it.

Oh (((((((((((((((((((((((( Jan ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm sorry I made a little joke about this....it's truly not funny and I didin't mean to be mean about it. Please forgive me, I was only trying to lighten you up a bit in my odd, stupid way.

Will other windows go down in the car aside from your drivers side window? When getting into the car, can you have one door that isn't "shut tight" so you can escape if need be?? I know that buzzers or bells might go off and you will "hear" the sound of the road more when the door is ajar, but if it helps you to feel safer while driving to the mechanic, then I'm all for it!!

You're in my thoughts and prayers hon....again, I'm sorry if I was out of line earlier....

You didn't offend me at all. I appreciated the fact that you tried me make me smile. I really do.

No worries, dear friend.

Hugs,

Jan

PS. I'm going to keep the windows down as I drive. That way I can get out of it if needed.

I just talked to a friend who owns a car repair shop. He told me I can bring it to him this afternoon. My cousin wanted me to bring it another day and leave it, and I can't do that. I have to have a car.

So, this may be more expensive, but it's closer and if I absolutely had to, I could walk to Mom's house from there. It would be a long way, but it wouldn't be a dangerous walk.

Hugs,

Jan

When I was pregnant with my son, I lowered the steering wheel after getting into the car so I could drive. It sort of rested on my tummy, his little butt! Well, when I got to where I was going, I couldn't get the damn thing to go back up. I freaked out! He was positioned in such a way that I couldn't just slide out either. I was STUCK. I ended up driving to a firestation close by and laying on the horn until someone came out. The firefighters got quite a kick out of it, but one of them was kind enough to suggest and then follow me to the dealership where he convinced them to put me ahead of everyone else and get the thing unstuck.

Since that point. . .when I get too belly big to fit comfortably.. .someone else drives!

That would spook me too! Heck, can you imagine the panic/silliness of such a call to 911?! "Help! I can't get out of my car!" Whacko Car Whacko Car Or calling the pastor at church because your beginning to think your car is possessed?! Please don't take offense--these are just things what I would think of it it happened to me! I hope they can get it fixed right away. And it doesn't happen again!

LOL! The firemen *had* to enjoy that! I bet you are a legend they still talk about on occasion. My daughter was an emergency home delivery (no labor pains--no clue I was in labor!) for the local fire department--the 2nd for them in the village history! I've heard that my daughter's birth is still talked about by them sometimes. An old neighbor of ours who was a fireman but not on duty for the event told us of her legend status around the firehouse yet.

I would be so embarrassed (and laughing and scared to a panic) if I was trapped in my car. I had problems with the windows getting stuck in the down position. Several times I swore the car locked/unlocked itself while I was driving, but I thought that maybe I must have bumped it or that something shifted in the car to bump and cause it. Now I'm wondering! I "got stuck" inside sort of, but I was able to manually unlock the door if it was keeping itself locked on me. Freaky and odd!

This sounds like a creepy experience and one that would scare lots of us. Heck, I get scared if an elevator takes a little too long for the doors to open . . . Take care, January. I don't think you are overreacting a bit.

(((((((((( Friends )))))))))

Thank you each and every one.

The car went wacko on the mechanics today which pleased me to no end. I felt vindicated in that someone else saw it, too.

They are ordering two new locks for me which will be here in a few days. I broke down and bought the tires and thankfully, the brakes just needed cleaned and adjusted.

Hugs,

Jan
