You do everything you can to stop the other person from committing suicide because if they succeed I think the person who survived can go to jail for making the pact.

Call the police on them, do anything you need to do to stop the person.

gabriel,

you can be responsible for someone elses death.

If you are really serious about this you should be in a police station right now talking to the cops. Or spilling the beans to the other persons friends or family and trying to resolve this.

Do everything in your power to stop the suicide from taking place.
Talk to them, go to the police, go to their family......whatever you think will help.
Come the crunch, if this other person really wants to die, they'll find a way, but by doing everything in your power to try and stop it from happening, you'll know that you did the best you could. Good luck and keep us posted.

Glad she went to the ER. Calling the police does not help, at least not in any situation I ever saw. Best of luck to you and your friend.

If a person enters into a suicide pact, and then backs out at the last minute, the only way that they would be held accountable to where they would go to jail, is if they somehow profited from the other persons death, in any way. It doesn't even have to be a money thing, if they profited from the other persons death at all, by any means, they will be charged!
It's a really dangerous situation to be in though. I knew of 2 teens from my high school that had a suicide pact, and when it came time to carry it out, and the other panicked and decided to back out, it turned into a Murder-Suicide! I'm sure you can figure out what happened, it was a tragedy!
It's never a good idea to enter into such a pact. If you know of someone who has, getting them to the ER is the best option, like your friend. The cops will make things worse, really!
I'm really glad your friend is okay, and getting help. Just wanted you to know that!

Hello Gabriel -- You did absolutely the right thing, and it took a lot of courage -- really a lot -- to help your friend.

I can imagine how you feel because of the way she looked at you; anyone who has ever owned a pet knows how a look can tear your heart out (even if all one is doing is refusing to let the pet glut itself) . . . but you must keep in mind that her feelings are very distorted right now. She is not thinking clearly. Perhaps it will take a long time, but hopefully she will stabilize and know that you have been the very, very best of friends and hero -- not a traitor at all.

That was a tough situation to get involved in.....but glad that you helped your friend.....what you did was being a true friend.....not going through with the suicide pact.

When I was going through some suicidal issues of my own, I met another lady in a similar situation......I was in the hospital & she called me telling me that she had OD'ed. I knew where she was & tricked her into giving me the address. When I tried calling 911 from the hospital.....they were totally confused....but I finally got through to them to have an ambulance sent out to the location where the lady was & they got to her soon enough that she ended up ok.

Caring like you did is an awsome thing to do....& you should be proud of yourself....since it sounds like she really doesn't know what is best for her, & the look she gave you was from someone that is not thinking very well. I hope she comes around....& when she does....she will appreciate what a true friend you really are.

Take care of yourself too....sometimes being around people like that can be draining emotionally....been there, so I can relate,
Debbie
