Success Stories, Please!

Success? I think I've had plenty of successes in recent months.

After my major depressive episode back in April/May following being dumped by my former significant other, I was incapacitated. Unable to go to school, work, or do anything, really. Now, I'm working full time, getting homework done, have a wonderful new boyfriend, and am finally feeling like I'm overcoming this illness! Whoo hoo!!

There's always hope, even when you think you're hopeless Never forget that!

I don't have any success stories of my own......yet..... but it's a breath of fresh air to read of other's success, and reinforces to me that things can and will get better!!

My small success was going to my granddaughters birthday party. I stayed for a couple hours too. For me being out of the house with people takes every ounce of courage I have, so for me this was a success story!

I am back into my exercise regime again. I saw myself slipping back into my junk food binges again and watching television. Now, I feel like I am heading back in the right direction. So are you! High Five girl!!

<font color="#000088">Well, I've been able to go 7 years without cutting myself, when before that I was cutting almost everyday. Sometimes if it was too bad, I would end up having to wait a week. I don't know, but some people would call that a success story if they understood how hard it is to stop in the first place! And to maintain that non-cutting for that long of a period of time! </font>

All of !! No matter how big or how small, every success in our life counts! Each success is a stepping stone on our path upward!

As we read each other's successes, I think it helps us to motivate ourselves to take that next step forward. Keep 'em coming, people!

<font color="#000088">You know, what stopped me that 7 years ago was a scary thing, but it was also a great thing at the same time! I almost died, and I had to learn how to walk again, along with a transfusion. But what actually stopped me was not the fact that I almost died, that is what put the ball in motion. It scared my Dad so much when the hospital notified him, as my next of kin. He asked me to come back to Utah for a little while, so he could help me get back on my feet and spent some time with me, that he missed me, and was worried about me. So When I got out of the Hospital in California, and was able to walk again. I did come back up to stay with my Dad for a little while. When we got to his house, we had a long talk, and my Dad started crying, and I'd never seen my Dad cry before. I loved my Dad so much, and I never mean't to hurt him, and when I saw those tears, it just hit me, that I was hurting my Dad, not just me! So it was actually the Love that I had for my Dad that stopped me from cutting. Love is very powerful, and can help you with anything! I did slip up once since that moment, but then I remembered those tears from my Dad. And haven't done it since...7 years ago..July 3rd,2000 was the last time! It was Love that stopped me! So it is possible for anyone to stop, if they have Love in their heart for anyone! I'm not saying it's easy, just possible!</font>

Justice, you truly ARE an inspiration! There are some that might say that love for yourself has to come first, but it's not always true. The love you have for your dad played a big role, I'm sure, and rang a bell in your head about yourself.

Your last sentence is also key; "I'm not saying it's easy, just possible!"

i survived a plane ride back from las vegas and had to fight a panic attack from coming on full force but with the help of my hubby i was able to keep it under control, does that count as a success story?????

Mel, that is very admirable! I haven't had panic attacks often, but when they hit, I am still unsure how to control them. How do you do it?

it is never easy! but i had my husband there to talk to me and calm me down. i havent master controlling them all together yet either

I'll say that's a success story!! We don't always have to accomplish something on our own, ya know.

What I've learned to do is recognize the symptoms of a panic attack and say "Ok, so my adrenaline is rushing. Let 'er rip! It can't last forever." ... and it doesn't, especially when I just let the feelings come and go. Slow, deep breathing helps a whole lot, too.

My son passed his summer school math classes. He had difficulty over the winter semester in high school and he had to repeat math over the summertime. He just brought home a mark of 72% in Trigonometry!!

I am very proud of him!!

I thought i had lost a friend, but ive got her back.

Kudos to your son! No doubt Mom had something to do with his success!

My prayers for the health of my new friends Mother in Kentucky have been answered in the what I asked for.......we were thinking that the lump in her abdomin might be cancer, since she had already had breast cancer surgery awhile back......all the tests came back negative....NO CANCER!!!!! I had tears in my eyes when we talked tonight. It is a wonderful feeling when God gives us the answers we ask for.

I was so stressed waiting to hear.....it was almost like it was my Mom that I was waiting the answer for.

I am blessed to have found a special friend like that at my new home that is like having family there already.
