I never realized he'd been battling cancer.
I was really surprised to hear that. Everytime I saw him he looked great! |

I haven't read it yet. Oh, I adored him!!
I have thought of him recently. The last time I saw him was when he escorted Nancy Reagan during Ronald Reagan's funeral events. This makes me so sad! I thought he was such a lovable, caring, personable man.

I'm so sorry to hear about Merv Griffin.
I grew up with the Merv Griffin show on in the afternoon when I got home from school. Me too! I would come home and plant myself in front of the TV to watch his shows. I was so enchanted at how he really listened to his guests, joined in the delight of something they were telling him about, his laugh, and that he did not demand to be in the spotlight all the time. |

I never really enjoyed him much, but his creations I did.
He was Catholic, but at times he expressed something that would make me think he didn't actively engage in that faith. He was too brilliant a mind to not know, I think.  He had a long life... living with cancer for 41 years. I am curious as to why it developed again so "quickly" if he was having annual physicals. Sigh. Oh well.

I remember watching him when I was young, too. My mom told me he'd passed when she called me a couple hours ago. He was a cool guy!
