I caught this kid Sean Kingston, on MTV last week. Cute little ditty, nice mix of hip-hop, reggae and doo-wop. He's different and I was liking how he mixed it up.

Then he got to the chorus,

You're way too beautiful girl
Thats why it'll never work

You'll have me bleeeeep, bleeeeeep
When you say it's over

Damn, all these beautiful girls
They only want to do you dirt

They'll have you bleeeeeep, bleeeeeeep
When they say its over

Of course I googled they lyrics right away and found, not only the lyrics, but how controversial the song is.

"You'll hear the word sounding alarm bells across the country. Artist Sean Kingston says "suicidal" more than a dozen times. A catchy lyric to some, but a crushing reality to listeners like Kisha Madison, whose brother committed suicide four years ago."

Has anyone heard it on the radio? I'm just curious if they're bleeping it there too.

It's bleeped on MTV, MTV2, MTV-Jams and MTV Playlist. It is not bleeped on IMF (International Music feed)

They remixed the song to say "In Denial" to replace the word 'suicidal'. But I have heard both versions and hate them. I think the song sounds tinny and severely lacks talent. A major bad rip off of melodies from some great 60's tunes and turned into crap! I can't believe that people even hear anything in that song that sounds good. It's just so bad!

Like it or not, agree with the lyrics censor or not, I guess what I was wondering is why this song in particular is under fire. Suicide is mentioned in so many other songs, even titles have it.

Suicide Solution-- Ozzy Osbourne
Suicide Blonde-- INXS
Rock and Roll Suicide-- Bowie

Heck for that matter the MASH theme song is called Suicide Is Painless

I'm sure there's more but those came to mind.

I'm wondering why this song has grabbed attention?

publicity stunt?
leave that kid alone and he ll have faded into oblivion within about 5 minutes.
bleeping? are there no limits to the recent demolition of the right to freedom of expression?? bad taste using the word, especially in that context, yes but if all bad taste was bleeped politicians would never be heard... wait... i changed my mind. yes to bleeping out bad taste!!
