I hate my bed; it stinks and kills my back.

Is there no way to get a new one?
If money is an issue, I don't know about other countries but in mine there are plenty of sites, and facebook pages, even city/area-specific where people will give away the stuff they no longer need, or trade or just sell for a low price.
If that kind of thing exists where you live you might find a new bed there? It sounds kinda gross maybe, second-hand mattress.. But you just have to look for a decent one. I recently got one myself for a few euros like that, and there's nothing wrong with it really.
If then transport is still an issue, I'd just ask the person if they could deliver it, and you'll pay for that if they want you to. I've asked this a few times and whenever they can it's usually not an issue.
Thanks for this!

Personally I would never accept second hand beds or fabric furniture in trade, off the internet, or at garage sales, etc. The chance of bed bugs is just far too great. There are a few places that sell gently used beds - I would only patronize them if they have a policy about cleaning and treating furniture for the bugs.

Try IEA or furniture stores. It is illegal for them to sell mattresses that they have taken in on return but they do sell at large discount their demos from the showroom.
Thanks for this!

i have acute spinal nerve damage and my mattrice is terrible,it hurts my back so bad.
like you i couldnt afford a new mattrece so what i did in the mean time was go to pound stretcher [a cheap shop in the UK] and buy a memory foam mattrece topper-it was only £15,its not perfect but its better than not using it i can tell you that.

as for the smell,it might need airing, could you leave it outside on a day when theres no wet weather? or leave your mattrece exposed and your windows wide open when your not in the bedroom.

Sometimes people give away mattresses and even bed frames. It's worth looking into. I do occasionally see it. There are also charitable organizations. I was lucky enough to get a very nice double bed, mattress, sheets, and even a memory foam topper thing for free! I'm forever grateful for that, because it's incredibly comfortable. I only hope you can find some place would be able to help you out.

My bed is very soft, which feels nice, but it also makes my back hurt a lot. Not enough support, I guess.

I had a very firm mattress that hurt my joints. I opted for a mattress topper which solved my problem. As far as the smell you might try Fabreeze.
