I just found the following news article online. After what happened to my friend last night, and now this! Train delays two days in a row due to dead bodies from assumed different causes lying on the tracks.

Body found on Metra tracks

Tribune staff report
12:58 PM CDT, August 17, 2007

A body was found this morning on Metra tracks in the far northwest suburbs, police said.

The unidentified body was found at about 10 a.m. on the Union Pacific Northwest line tracks in Fox River Grove, according to police.

Authorities have no information that suggests the victim was hit by a train, although two trains were delayed for about an hour, according to Metra.

Here is a fresh article just released on Google. My last apartment was in FRG directly across from the tracks and Metra station there.

Man found dead on railroad tracks in FRG

August 17, 2007
By CRAIG A. WHITNEY | STAFF WRITER

Fox River Grove Police are investigating the death Friday of an unidentified man whose body was found on the Union Pacific railroad tracks near the Lincoln Avenue crossing.

Around 10 a.m., authorities were dispatched after receiving a report of a body lying on the tracks, said Capt. Don Kublank of the Fox River Grove Fire Department.

Authorities investigate the scene near Lincoln and Route 14 in Fox River Grove, where a man's unidentified body was found Friday morning on the Union Pacific railroad tracks.

Upon arrival, police found a white male with black hair between the ages of 35 and 45. He was around 6 feet tall and weighed 240 to 260 pounds. He was wearing a Green Bay Packers T-shirt and black shorts. The victim was not carrying identification at the time of the accident.

Kublank said it is unknown if the incident is a suicide, accidental or foul play. The coroner's department will conduct an autopsy of the victim.

"Right now the biggest process is identifying who it is," Kublank said.

Kublank went on to say that after authorities arrived, the track for trains traveling east into Chicago was closed, and trains were rerouted. The tracks reopened Friday afternoon.

Fox River Grove Police Chief Robert Polston said that there were no witnesses to the accident. He also said it was unknown if the victim was homeless. Friday's death was the first train accident in Fox River Grove this year, Polston said.

If anyone has information regarding the incident, they are asked to call Fox River Grove Police at (847) 639-2411.

I guess the body *WAS* result of being hit by a train. Accidents like this 2 days in a row! Fox River Grove is about a half-hour away by car and on the same rail line as here. I would hate to work for Metra. They will be getting stricter and watch people especially closely now, I bet. I could see the station manager this morning being more watchful, especially with homeless people. One such *IDIOT* homeless person this morning got yelled at TWICE by the station manager over the PA system for walking ON the tracks. He claimed to be "looking for evidence" -- (ie., he was actually looking for money). My friend who was hit yesterday dropped money held in his hands when he was hit by the train. Very sad. It made me mad!
