For the past several months, whenever I've been under a tremendous amount of self-induced stress, I've noticed that I've had to urinate consistently, and I never seem to get the pipe drained. This has caused cramps, discomfort, and has me worried. When I'm not under stress, though, I notice that the problem goes away.
Do you think this is a psychological thing or something I need to talk to a doctor about? Anyone else have these issue? |

I have irregularity problems of both kinds caused by stress, and then it seems the irregularity causes even more stress. Seeing an urologist should help determine whether there is a physical problem of some kind, and reducing stress always helps in many ways.

Hi, AsaBoxofRocks. I think most of us pee more when we're stressed, so part of it might be that. But the other symptoms lead me to think you need to see a doctor and maybe then referred to a urologist.
I'm having all sorts of bladder problems, so I feel for you. |

I have bladder issues due to med side effects. Not sure if you are on any meds.

I have to pee A LOT. I attribute it to a combination of anxiety and med side effects.
I don't have cramping or pain, though. You might need a medication for overactive bladder, or one that helps you to void completely. You probably should mention this to your doctor. |

I can get that from Ritalin. Many other meds can cause the same thing. Also some med combos can, even if taken separately the meds do not.

Are you on lithium? Have you had your blood tested regularly?
I was just diagnosed with 'diabetes insipidus' which was directly caused by lithium. It is a kidney condition. It is characterized by peeing a lot (which appears diluted). You will feel dehydrated more often than usual too, feeling the need to hydrate frequently. The condition cannot be reversed however the treatment is basically drinking a lot of water. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about the active bladder. |

I have an overactive bladder thanks to meds. I feel your pain. I have to wear diapers some days because the urges are too frequent and come out of no where. I have seen my PCP and my psych and neither one wants to contribute it to meds but something nerve related, however it didn't start until I was on the abilify injection. I have since stopped the injection but my bladder is the same. ugh.

I'm not on any medications, folks. I haven't had this issue since Monday, and Monday I had my last final exam. I guess it only happens when I'm under pressure.

It could be some underlying problem for something else. Now, I can stand in front of the john for a dribble. I never feel like I get everything out but I have a lot of prostate and colon cancer on my side of the family. I want to know but I don`t want to know. I have signed DNR`s so I am sure reusing treatment would be covered.
If you at least do one thing, have your blood sugar checked. It can make you drink a gallon of water a day and you feel like you are getting rid of 3! I would see a doctor for sure, just to make sure everything is ok. |

If you are not already taking something, maybe try some Doxazosin. A doc had given me 4mg for my hypertension, but then I also discovered a better flow and another doc said that means my prostate problem is benign. Today I take 8mg and all seems well for now.

Most of mine is from the diabetes (Type 2) and all of the opiates I have to take everyday. Pain doc said if I quit taking them, my pain level would be off the chart.
