When someone "steals" your wireless internet connection .. they take bandwidth away from you. You - the person who is footing the bill. Your computer response time will drag to a crawl.

That is the law in the UK Man arrested for stealing broadband Sorry you guys.

It is perfectly legal in the USA to access any unsecured broadband/wireless etc connection. It's up to the owner to secure it or suffer any consequences. Now that is to use it, not hack it. Man arrested for stealing broadband

That is fascinating, because when I use my laptop in Ca, my neighbor has several wireless connections available.....most are secure, but one isn't. I didn't realize how wireless worked with my laptop until I have it set up that way in KY.

Wonder is arrests like this have occured in the US?

all i can say is at least we know what the police are priortising on in the uk, petty crime to increase the arrest rates. how many serious crimes were committed in the same time period in the area the officers patroled, but couldnt cause they were sat on there *** back at base "dealing" with this drivel?

and they wonder why the serious crime rate is rising, go figure.

It is legal in the USA. The responsibility is placed on the owner of the router. You can secure your wireless connection through your router by using a WEP key. The explanation is included with the router.

its very easy to steal it...especially if it says you have no connection it pops up with a box that shows you a pick of people around you that you can choose from to steal their wireless from....some of them say ...secured and that comes with a password...but others dont have that....
