I was hospitalized in 1993 and diagnosed with major depression. Then, I was hospitalized again in 1994 because I punched my dad in the face. I am trying to access my old mental health records, but I need help. I don't know what to do. They are at the health insurance company, but when I call I can't get past the automated system. Who should I ask to help me access my old records?

They are probably gone.Medical records must be kept for 7 years but after that they are usually destroyed.

Why don't you try the health records department at the hospital. They usually keep records for at least 27 years after the last visit.

Because I can't find the information from the hospital I was at in 1993 and 1994.
