All the days the ringing, hissing and another tone that wavers in my left ear is depressing and causes anxiety along with the thick discharge I have to suck out. What can you do? One of my focus distractions was playing the guitar. It's so loud it affects my hearing. Poeple wonder why I don't do much and I'm grumpy. It's a psychosomatic symptom from the meds or depression. I may have to sell my house and go into assisted living.

Discharge? This sounds serious. What are you doing about it? Have you had medical attention? This isn't normal.

I have all of that but no discharge . I do try to not listen to it but it gets very hard at Night when trying to sleep. I will also get t hat hissing but then it changes to a slightly higher tone and slowly increases which is usually when I become aware of the change, keeps in creasing until it does something I am not sure exactly how to describe then stopped goes back to the same ringing and hissing sound, I am not sure why that happens but the other things like the ringing is tinnitus, but also possibly air pressure change and or blood pressure change also Meds can change BP . but that is my thoughts .

Do you see a doctor? Have you told him about this?

I've a few ideas that come to mind. I believe that an ENTS (Ear Nose and Throat Specialist) should be consulted. If it is pressure problem there are simple fixes a few of which I am aware of out of my own experience.

Perhaps the problem is a difference in pressure between the inner and outer ear. This could be caused by blockage. It could be caused by too narrow and/or blocked eustation tubes (my problem). Removal of adnoids can be a fix. The insertion (simple procedure) of small tubes in the eardrum is another possible solution.

thanks for the concern I went deaf in june the ent put tubes in that made things worse my tubes are around somewhere but the thick stuff took them out a long time ago the 4 th ent said psychosomatic the symptoms are real but they don't no it's a mental problem. It may be from 9/30/2015 when after the psychologist decided to reduce the paroxetine 50% I had a series of brain zaps that morning I haven't been the same since.
