I think I wish more people said "I think" before they say things about other people. I don't know why this bugs me so much. I guess I do. The Paternal Factor knew it ALL.

But really knew So very little I think...

(didnt even know who he was married to. I think...)

Fuzzy, I think your post about "I think......" is right on!!!!.

I have been pointing this out to my husband so much lately because everytime he speaks, it is always like everything he says it a "fact" rather than what he thinks....as if he knows it all.

I get so angry at times because when I depend on what he is saying to base my decisions on....it is important for me to know whether it is a known thing or just something he is thinking.....I am sure if it is this way with my husband, it is this way with everyone. I have honestly come to the point where I just don't ask anymore & have to go & find out all the answers to the questions I would normally ask him.

I feel that the words "I think..." & "my opinion...." are a good starting place in discussions. I have always hated sounding like a "know it all" because I never liked hearing people who were that way...& I grew up with them around me (my grandfather (my Dad's dad), & my Dad. It was always such an embarrassing feeling when I was listening to my Father talking in a group & saying things that I knew (even at my young age) weren't fact but being spoke like it was. That was my training ground for always making sure that if I didn't know something for fact....I would always preface it with "I think.....".

My parents were nice people, but I can honestly say that I learned more of what I didn't want to be like from them that anything else.

So I also think that it is important to use the words "I think....." to make sure that people don't feel that I am forcing my thoughts onto them as fact.

Debbie
