I don't find that chrisis lines help me, at all.

everytime i've rang them, i've been... not let down by them, but surprised at how much more support they could have given but didn't.

I often find it's just like talking to a close friend who understands you, (like someone you've all ready explained it too), and I hang up.. not feeling
worse than before, but feel like i've just wasted the last half an hour talking to them, just for them to tell me something that anyone could have told
me.

what are your thoughts on chrisis lines?

i don't call crisis much anymore but i used to long ago. i was always afraid they would send an ambulance to my home, as i think if i remember correctly, they did. i was infuriated and belidgerant. i will never call again.

I tried one decades ago and did not feel supported by them, but that is just me. I suspect they work for many people and I would not hesitate to suggest crisis lines as a form of support.

I can certainly see your point on why you'd decide not to call them again.

for me, I guess it's diffrent... because I only use them in extreme situations, I expect them to send an ambulence, I expect them to send help, then get annoyed that they don't and say something like... well, why don't you just read a book for 10 minits.

if i'm calling a chrisis line i've probably tried that?

I have had positive experiences as well. I use a text crisis line though. I prefer that over talking.

My impressions of crisis lines are mixed.

I am aware of any number of people who have had positive or at least somewhat helpful experiences with them. My personal experience was different. For myself, in a similar situation I will take advantage of some of the meds I already have -- I have clearance from my psych caretakers to take extra when necessary to help me out of difficult situations.

When I call, it's usually to talk something out I'm feeling really emotional about and can't talk to anyone else / am not able to. It's more like a warm line for me. I've had mostly positive experiences. Once there was someone who answered who made me feel worse. But those times are usually few and far between.
