I guess I spoke too soon--I thought I had done a thorough background check on the publisher that I was interested in; but after further review of the contract that they had offered me I have decided to take my manuscript elsewhere. Wish me luck.
This really puts a damper on my plans, but I am a survivor and I will do what I do best: I will pick myself up off the floor and keep on moving.
Hoping for a better tomorrow,
Jon
PS. Thanks for all the support.

Sorry to hear that the publisher didn't end up being what you thought it was, there is one out there that will be better in the long run. Best of luck in a new publisher and positive wishes to you!

Not to worry Jon.

I immediately see two positive things in this: 1, better that you found out now than later, and 2, in spite of whatever depression may be effecting you right now or other life stress, you didn't let your (well deserved) excitement over this blind your vision and effect your critical eye. Rather than just getting carried in the flow, signing whatever they put in front of you with no questions, you have held the reigns and you are still in control of it. You kept the decision as yours and not theirs.

I think that is another personal accomplishment you can be proud of.

It is something I have always had a lot of difficulty with, and it is particularly effecting me now.

Jon,

As someone who has been a writer's lackey more than once I can only say congrats to you for keeping your manuscript. This is your baby and you will know when the right one comes along.

Sorry it wasn't this time but your words are worth a lot more than you think AND maintaining control of how those words are published is vital. (imnsho)

You have a great attitude about this. Best wishes for you.

I am so sorry, but I agree with Dex..
You should be very proud of yoruself for keeping a critical eyeball open.. and not just signing everying put in front of you.. That takes a great deal when wanting yoru life story published..
I for one am very proud of you..
I still will wait till the book comes out and go and buy a copy air mail it to you so you can sign it, and send it back to me..
never know when you will become a star
love you..

I'm so glad you read that contract carefully! Too many people would have just signed it, and lost out.

Don't let the goobers get you down. Keep us posted on your progress. Em

I dodn't logged in through the weekend so I'm sorry to be a little late in my repply ...

I see another good point here; If this publisher liked what they saw, others will to, so, go tiger and get them!!

You'll find a publisher you'll like.
