I've been in my (hopefully-not-soon-to-be-foreclosed-upon) house for 4 or 5 years now. I don't have much furniture, I like the empty, open rooms (people who new me from my time in my parents house understand this furniture

I understand liking the least amount of furniture, bare or nearly bare rooms, so I can appreciate your view.
Plus I think I told you in the past how those pics of your family home reminded me so much like mine when I was growing up, I jokingly blame mom for my depression, ha!ha!
Though I know it is much more than that, but it never helped.
Well on an upbeat note, congrats on your furniture, enjoy it furniture

Can I have your inflatable couch? It would probably be more comfortable than the couch I have now.

It wasn't a surprise... I've been going back and forth with the furniture store for some time... maybe think a few months worth of arguing spread over eight months because of my depression. I had to go back to the store several times to make changes. And wait for staff there to look into what the holdup was.

One person in the office was friendly all the way through... not so much that she was friendly but I really felt she was checking for me rather than just making promises on the phone and hanging up.

They called yesterday to set up delivery today. At this point I didn't want to mention it because of the possibility of another holdup. My only fear was that after all this time they were going to bring the wrong furniture... even I had some trouble remembering what I ordered furniture. I wasn't so much feeling negative about the delivery, but rather anxiety over the possibility that I would have to speak up to the delivery guys if it had been wrong. In fact when they brought it in, wrapped in plastic, I thought it WAS wrong and I panicked, but while they were out at the truck I ripped off a piece of the plastic and it was right. Part if it was the plastic hiding the shape of the couch, and a bit part of it really was me not rembering the overall features of the furniture, until I cut it open and was one of the distinguishing features that led me to pick it.

I ordered a three piece set, black leather sofa, loveseat, couch... with rosewood trim. I'm not even sure I love the shape of the furniture, it is the rosewood trim that I really like.

They couldn't get the chair... in between my order and delivery the manufacturer stopped making this set. They had the sofa and loveseat but couldn't fill the chair. That's what the holdup was. Finally they let me go back to the store and pick out a substitute charir. I picked a red suede swivel rocker, thinkiing if I tried to find something similar to the couch it would look like a mismatch, but if I went completely different it would look interesting and "eccletic" all together. The red chair was questioned every step of he way (including the delivery guys) because everyone thought it was a mistake either in the order or at the warehouse.

Well it is here and I'm happy.

I originally had a matching chair to the couch... it "popped" and I've gone through several additional inflatable chairs since then. The couch has withstood all along, I've had to add some more air now and then.

Its blue and covered with "fuzz" on top of the vinyl so it is comfortable, not "sticky" like a straight inflatable couch would be.

Dex,
Your furniture sounds gorgeous! I am so glad that it picked up your spirits. I think in some way making the decision to buy something permanent for your life is a big step mentally. I do not know how exactly or if I am just being a moron, but I know that it was scary for me to purchase permanent things for my life.
Anyway I hope that you enjoy your stuff.

Jessica

Hi, Dexter

I am glad that it came. Also glad for the lady that helped you, or at least put forth effort to appear she was, either way I can understand the treatment anymore over major purchases. You would really think they would want to cooperate more, especially with major priced merchendise. Sounds like you had a heck of of a time over the chair issue. You can tell customer service reps are not working on comission.

The delivery people that sounds like something I experienced when I first moved in here. The Second Hand store guys delivered most of the stuff, and I was really nervous talking to them. Then the people from the Furnature store brought the Bed and I already had a head/foot board and rails they wanted to know if I wanted them to set it up. I just wanted them out of my aparment. I am glad you didn't have to deal with anything major with them, even the question of the Chair.

Red suede, swivel rocker, sounds sweet. I would be paranid and have a cover for it worried I would spill something on it. I think the Red and the Black leather together would really look sharp. Is it a deep red or more cherry red? I like the fact of it being a rocker, I like to sit and rock sometimes and chairs that rock really seem to help relax me. The Black leather couch and love seat sound nice as well. Souldn't be to difficult to store the old furnature....hissss let the air out and put away furniture I am really glad you finally got the furnature.

Have a good one- Chris

Milk crates wouldn't be too bad. My parents, after deciding that the olive green couch they had dragged around for 20 years and 6 kids had teethed on was not in good enough shape to move it from Texas to New Mexico, created a living room set by stacking boxes (that they never do get around to unpacking) in the shape of a couch and chairs, and even a coffee table, and throwing sheets over them. They do have real furniture now, inherited from relatives who were getting new furniture and donated their old stuff.

Congrats on the furniture, Dex! A lot of our stuff is not worth the hassle of moving, so we might be doing without until we can save up for something. We don't even have a sofa because the old house only has room for a love seat. Well, there is a hide-a-bed sofa in my shed, but it isn't worth moving. The new house has a much bigger living room, and I am looking forward to maybe trying to do some real decorating for once.

Thanks, dex...nothing like Monty Python to start the day off with a giggle! furniture

Congrats on the furniture. I'm working on redecorating now, and I can't decide which I enjoyed more, buying the new couch, or turning the old one into little couch bits to put in the trash! furniture

*hugs*

mj, I've done the couch bits thing. ax, hamers, you name it. What a riot! Dex, congrats on furniture! Must say that your inflatable stuff would have lasted exactly 10 minutes here with all of the animal toe nails. HE He. My kids were awful on furniture when they were younger. Kept breaking springs. So, I went out and got a couple of futon frame couches with big thick futons. They didn't break them and I can change the covers as they get dirty.

I liked the four yorkshire link- thanks it is amusing

the worry of the suede I guess is all I could think of was the episode of Seinfeld when Jerry got the Suede Jacket and went out in the snow and the snow ruined it. So I went over paranoid thinking a spill would cauese suede to ruin. furniture I dont know much about suede stuff (except that Seinfeld episode) I wouldn't want a Museum living room either.

Sky gets her animations back... we've created a monster!

Thanks sky and congrats on being able to figure out the source of the problem! It's true... sometimes our service providers think they are doing us a favor and end up making things frustrating. I didn't know the ISP software could effect that so I've learned something too with this!
