Can someone please explain to me exactly what this means? - as I always thought the men had their own forum and the ladies had their forum - and neither could post in that particular opposite sex forum.

Posted in the Men's Forum

I personally like the ideal that we have our separate forums we can post in when we only WANT / NEED the same sex advice.

Rhap, men have to be invited to respond to a post of yours; nowhere is inviting women to respond to his:

From DocJohn's instructions at the top of the Women's Forum: "That means that, by and large, unless a specific post asks for male input, men should refrain from posting in this forum."

Men can ask women for their perspectives, and that's when women can respond to posts in the Men's forum. Vice-versa if women want to ask men to weigh in on a post in the Women's forum.

Unless asked, we shouldn't post in the other gender's forums out of respect.

That's what I thought too - no where did I see that an invite was given in this particular thread.

One more question with that thought -

Shouldn't the person that started the post be the one to invite the opposite sex into the conversation?
- for if they had wanted the other sex opinion they would have posted in one of other forums.

Well, if you're referring to my responses, I did notice that they have now been removed. Originally, before I posted, Nowhere had asked for women's perspectives in the thread. For the record, I originally PM'ed Nowheretorun to let him know that women aren't supposed to reply to messages in the Men's forum, and he said that since he invited women to respond, that he would like me to do so.

I think, though, if you need any more clarification than this, you should direct your questions to a moderator instead of to the general community.

I think nowheretorun is happy to have anyone respond to his post and is making sure women know it's okay with him if a woman responds to his particular post. That doesn't say anything about the whole thread, just his particular post/point of view.

But what happened? Did a guy respond to you in the women's forum that you wish hadn't?

No - I am taking about the one mentioned above....... in the Peeing Thread.

Why would YOU think or even assume I was taking about you? - as I posted a part from the thread that got me wondering about the male / female having their own personal forums (and) no where was that part in the thread you posted in.

No - I had seen the post I mentioned above where a female posted in the thread later on and from what I read the original poster did not desire a female POV on this matter.......... his health concern.

So with that - I wanted to see if the RULES had changed and that I had not missed the revised version.... for like I said I LOVE that we have our separate forums for when we NEED it to be that way.

This is what I believe to be the way things should be in the mens' and womens' forums and the opposite sexes replying.

The only time a reply by the opposite sex should be made in either forum is if the OP has requested the replies. If someone other than the OP would like another's point of view, a new thread should be started with their request.

Rule of thumb...if the OP does NOT request opposite sex responses, then there should be respect and no responses posted.

Hope this clears things up!

Hugsss

Hmmm-

Maybe? - but then on the other hand isn't this a matter that we all need to know the RUES to?

I am not pointing out any particular person to shake my finger at them - I am just using the post mentioned as clarification to what we can or cannot do in the opposite sex forum? as this thread got me thinking / wondering.

MODS - what do you think?

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
