Sometimes, all of a sudden I remember something and it makes me furious or embarrassed. For example, today I remembered something that happened when I was a teen. I told somebody "I'm thirsty like a dog". Their response? "Well, you are a dog". It makes me so freaking angry That happened over 20 years ago yet I can't let go of such memories. Anyone?

Oh yes. I'm plagued by memories from the past... mostly snapshots of embarrassments I suffered or regrets. Sometimes one of those memories will pop up (yet again) & I'll think: "jeez that was 40 or 50 years ago! Why am I still squirming over that now?"

Exactly. It's so strange and annoying. Come to think of it, I haven't talked about this with my psychologist. I really should.

((((fallaximago)))) I know what you mean. It's hard to let go of the past in general. I think it's a good idea to talk about it with your psychologist
Thanks for this!

Thank you. I think I will! I believe this stems from the fact that I have a very strong sense of justice. Many of the people who have hurt me in the past are far away now and I can't really get them to apologize to me, provided that you could ever "get" somebody to apologize. Like you said, it's very hard to leave the past where it should be.
