WoW....this is very embarassing and very hard to say. For the longest times I've been going to Psychcentrals sexual forums because I'm having alot of sexual thoughts at my age and am trying to explore them. Some topics, if not all trigger me very badly, and most have a trigger icon....I know this is a personal problem...but I seem to be addicted to them...I won't stop reading..until it hurts....
Your probably wondering "why" why does it hurt me....Ican't answer that beacuse I don't know....maybe I'm jealous that others are in sexual relationships or maybe sex in general disturbs me.....Anyway...I'm not trying to make a big deal out of this its my problem..I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem....plz be gentle... |

Good for you for getting that out, Moonkin. I like your first thought that maybe it makes you jealous since others are in relationships and you aren't yet.
I would "close up" that section of the board so you can't see it if you don't want to read those posts anymore? __________________ "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." ~Confucius |

at first i was going to say... just stop clicking on it Moonkin... but that is just to simple and really doesnt address your concern... i have to give a personal story of my own and hope it helps in some way..
i was addicted to gore, true, murderer/serial killer books , tv, documentaries, anything i could my hands on... very disturbing and at the time (must of read about 300 of these books) i couldnt understand why myself... my ex-wife thought i must be a closet rapist... really made me examine my own motives and didnt understand for the longest time... the books were facsinating to me.. couldnt get enough, but at the same time, i was sickened.. couldnt stop though.. why, why, why? about 5 years ago, i just up and quit reading this genre altogether.. cant even stand to see it or imagine it... these books were very graphic, professinally written, factual and scientific... i was learning, thats what it was... i had some deep need to understand the psyche of a serial killer... why? well, because we all have to deal with it everyday... i guess my subconscious took over and made me learn, comfortable or not.. that is wmy (i presume) you cant keep your self from these forums... you need to learn... when you've learned what you are seeking (consciosly or sub-consciously) i predict you will stop reading... best to you Moonkin... your honesty really affects me... |

I have forums that are triggers for me here too. So I use the favorites view. I don't know if you know how to use this so I'll explain just in case. For the forums you like and want to keep reading, lets use General for example. From the list of forums click on General. Scroll all the way down, and on the bottom left there's some small links. Click on the link that says Subscribe/Unsubscribe to forum. Now General is in your favorites view. Go through and do this for all the forums you want to view. Then at the top of of the forums I believe, it'll say "show favorite forums only". Click that and it'll only show the forums you've selected. It will remember that, and every time you log in, it only shows your favorites until you select the show all forums link. I only view 21 of the forums. This keeps me from stumbling into a forum that triggers me. Hope that helps..... Rayna __________________ |

Sometimes we're obsessed with something we "fear" in that we always feel like we need to be on top of things if at all possible. That might be it, but I think you'll realize in time what the issue is.
What I really wanted to say, though, moonkin, is that I've watched you grow soooooo much in self-assessment and insight these last months, and it's been such a cool thing to watch. I don't know if you're aware of that yourself, but it's really cool and I wanted to tell you that. Thank you for letting us watch you "grow". KD __________________ |

You're welcome Moonkin. And I'd like to second what Kimmy said.
