I am having troubles tonight dealing with the shooting that happened today in Omaha. Why you may ask when I live in Arkansas does this affect me?

I grew up in Nebraska and used to shop at that mall. My nephew Jeff is living in Omaha and I found out that is one of the malls he hangs out at. Luckily he's still in school and was in school at the time so couldn't have been at the mall when the shooting happened. I have friends that live in Omaha and shop at that mall. I am really struggling right now with the dreaded what if's. What if they were there and things like that.

I know that is highly unlikely that they were there but my mind is stuck.

Scary stuff; but with three levels and 135 shops, still unlikely that anyone you know and love would have been one of the few. Looks like everyone "hid" well and mostly the shots sounded like they were everywhere from the acoustics of being in the Mall. That had to be scary to be part of. Hope those people are okay from the experience and don't have their Christmas ruined and the Mall's reputation doesn't take a hit right now.

{{{jbug}}} hope you feel better as the day goes on. Odd feeling to have things happen in a place you know so well.

jbug,

Read the post titles here & looked it up on the internet. My fathers family is from Omaha & I have some far removed family that lives there also.

It is so sad when young people feel so hopeless & useless that they have to "become famous" in a shooting & then shooting themselves.

I feel bad for the family he was living with since according to the article I read, he showed them the rifle & the mother thought is was too old to be functional so let it slide. Can you imagine how she feels about what happened even thought there wasn't anything she probably could have done anyway.

Very very sad that our country & the world is having so many shootings like this.

My prayers go to all the families that were personally effected & all of us who are effected by the news which can also effect us even though we are not personally effected.

Debbie

Thanks guys. It means a lot to get all the hugs from you guys. I am doing better now that it isn't on the T.V. 24/7. I was really bothered when I saw one of the victims because he looked like Jeff's House Teacher and then I saw the guys name and was ok when I realized it wasn't him.

Thanks again guys.
