I have been working overtime for months due to financial problems and the past few days my temper feels really frayed.
The last straw is my dog who is usually well behaved complaining non-stop whenever I am working on the computer. I even took a day off to give him extra attention but the incessant nagging whining when I'm tired and cold and have lots of horrible work to do makes me screaming mad and I'm too tired to be spending energy being mad. I know I'm burned out but I don't have the luxury of not working. I just feel worse every day ans there is no way to get a break. |

So sorry for the terrible pressure and stress you are dealing with. I can't even imagine how burdensome it must be. You certainly do deserve a break!

I know a bit of your story and you have been in an impossible situation. Are things any better at home now?
Do you have time during the day to take a quick break every so often to take the dog out for a quick walk and get some air and clear your head? 10 minutes ould probably help you out. Sending you calm and peace. __________________ When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them--Rodney Dangerfield |

Thanks @bpcyclist things have been a bit better at home lately. And my dog was calmer the last few days. Today is a bit tricky because my sister went out and her dog tends to raise the alarm if he doesn't get attention every few minutes. And he barks in such a way that startles the other dogs into barking in an obnoxious tone of voice. I don't usually mind ordinary barking dogs. My sister's temperament brings out aggression in her dog and it sometimes triggers a reaction from my dogs. This never happened before she had her own dog. My nerves just feel really frayed again today.

How many dogs do you have? What kind of dog is your sister's?

the way I helped my pets understand about work at home is by placing a chair or stand and a blanket on it with in my reach. I have the pet climb up before I get to work and have it lay down (good and caring pet owners take the time to train their pets to behave, just like they would a toddler giving them a place to sit and a book and toys with in reach of the mom) then when the pet is doing what its supposed to be doing (laying quietly with their toy and blanket give the reward a treat or extra loving and saying good boy or good girl, you are being so good right now thank you. just like you would a two year old child. the consistent a parent is, their fur baby learns that they are ok laying there on their very own blanket with their very own toy that's only allowed in that one spot to play with. family pets like toddlers sometimes need to relearn what they already know what to do, the key is consistency with the teaching and follow through. Some days I work at home and I have 6 dogs, three cats and then some and each of them understand when its work and when its play. |
