Does anyone else do this? Does anyone else cry or get the urge to cry when this happens? Sometimes, when I'm reading an article about a particular mental illness or other issue I have/can relate to, I start crying. I'm not even entirely sure why I do. Even weirder, sometimes when I start reading about possible forms of treatment or suggestions about what to do/how to deal with the issue, I start crying or get the urge to cry. I'm not sure why. Maybe I'm just happy that someone's put it into words. Maybe I'm just happy to know I'm not alone, and that there is a solution. ...Maybe a part of me is scared or nervous, as well. Of what, I am not sure. Sometimes I smile or laugh, too, something must be wrong with me lol. Does anyone else sometimes do this?

Sure. I've teared up, or even cried, when I've read something right here on PC that was especially touching to me, because I identified with it so strongly. I think an emotional reaction can be for the reasons you've stated. It's not weird.

Hi Faechild. I am glad you've found info about treatment that is helpful to you. I dont think anything is wrong with you for crying happy or sad tears. I cried through half of The Baby Sitters Club on Netflix, for instance. Such a well done show and it brought back memories. I always related to MaryAnne.

I don’t cry, however I do get very emotional. It’s completely normal, as we tend to feel alienated or alone, or somewhat misunderstood, but when you read something that describes you, you feel as if you are understood and less alone. But that’s just my deduction on the matter.

Yes I too cry when I read articles that relate to me ,my mental illness even about the abuse I experienced as a child ..
True I'm not sure the real reason I cry. Tho I think it stirs up memories also I think of others living with mental illness and struggling and my heart goes out to them which causes tears in my eyes
Now with this pandemic I cry every night thinking of all the people suffering and dieing. And their family and friends who have to live with the loss . I know it dlhas nothing to do with crying about something that relates to me ...but it's reading about the sadness and suffering ..
Perhaps sometimes I feel people living with a mental illness when we read about something that relates to us we are more sensitive and cry because we understand... I'm not sure but I hope what I wrote was ok . When I read the post I just needed to respond because of crying every night
So Yes I can relate ...I do Hope Everyone stays safe ok.....thank You for letting me respond I do hope it helps You knowing You're not alone ..
