Hey.
I recently came across St Johns Wort pills and I feel like it helps me have my mood stable. I was doing more research and it looks like there are things like 5 hpt, tryptophan. I just need more thoughts from people who took those things or tested other supplements. I struggle with depression, suicide thoughts, loneliness. I just have to be ok with myself. |

The pdoc I had when living in Calif researched alternate medications for those of us who had horrible reactions to all the meds. He found that taking 1800mg of omega -3 EPA (not DHA) actually helps the depression. Taking a supplement with both, you have to make sure the amount of the EPA is 1800mg/day. The DHA helped my memory, the EPA helped my depression

I am taking vitamine d3 10.000 for a while now. Not feeling any mood improvement.
I have magnesium in multivitamin but its 24% of what we need. Well it doesnt do anything in that amount. I assume I need more of that? OMEGA i used to take back in a day but again didnt do anything for me. Im prestty sure i was taking lower amounts and not sure if it was epa or dha. Im 3rd day on st johns wort and i didnt cry, get sad or anything of that sort. Thats why Im digging into other supplements and I will test it on my own if I cant get more peoples experience. |

I found omega 3 in high quality fish oil capsules helpful for generally helping my brain/mind function.. But now I would take vegan capsules.
Also I think B vitamins are meant to be helpful for mood. Finally, because a med I take affected my motivation, I discovered that taking a high dose of vitamin C really helped bring it back. So that may possibly help too. Aside from supplements touch can be very healing. I guess that's why so many people have pets. But using cocoa butter or natural scented creams or oils for general body care can be uplifting and a comfort too. Or even having a foot bath with a couple of drops of aromatherapy oil. |

Ps A nutritionist recommended to me taking a supplement for about 3 months and then reviewing health after that.

Take care. I am pleased that St Johns Wort is helping you. I was on a combination of St Johns Wort and anti depressants. A couple of weeks into it I found that I was extremely hyperactive. Report any reactions back to your doctor.

I do not think medication on its own will help you. If you address your loneliness, your will automatically get a head start on the suicidal and depressive moods. Medication helps coping with depression. But it does not sure loneliness or suicidal thoughts. These are things you have to personally address. You have to want to do it and be motivated for change. Once you do this you will also be heads up.

I know how it feels going through depression. But I think you should consult a therapist and you can also indulge in activities like exercise, meditation, a healthy diet, spending time with loved ones, etc. I hope it helps. |

St. John's Wort can cause mania in people with bipolar.
Supplements can have as many side effects as meds, and because they are classified differently are often not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (at least in the US. I don't know about other countries). I would not take any kind of supplement without consulting a doctor. |
