Yesterday while I was watching a movie, for 10s or so I felt I am not real . It's hard to explain. I used to feel like this a lot in the past when I was younger, but haven't felt like this in awhile, and almost forgot about it.

What you experienced sounds like depersonalization. It's a disturbing sensation that can be the result of extreme anxiety.

Do you think it may be some sort of dissociation (i Was going to write it in caps)? Perhaps that is something worth discussing with a therapist or pdoc although if it happens rarely perhaps it is not worth worrying about that much. Feel free to decide this! SEnding many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @Diurnal, your Family, your FriEnds and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I had it as a child too, usually when tired and with a group of people I didn't know. I wouldn't be anxious then, as far as I know.
It didn't happen very often. As an adult, about 4 years ago, I started getting a very occasional brief phase of what I came to see as depersonalisation. I was at the bus stop one day, and suddenly felt like my life up until now had never happened. It lasted maybe 10 minutes. I had similar perceptions another few times since, maybe 4 or 5. Sometimes I felt like I was moving or swimming in measured slow motion. Only ever for a few minutes. Not usually accompanied by anxiety or moods. A few times I have had derealisation, where my surroundings feel unreal. That usually happens when in a depressed or other unpleasant mood, and is much less pleasant. |

I’ve experienced similar things, usually at work and I know those particular experiences were due to stress and anxiety. I was also driving home one night and until I got to about a mile from my house I felt like I didn’t know where I was, even though I’ve driven/been driven down these roads nearly all my life. It was just one of those weird things I couldn’t attribute to any underlying feelings at the time.

I had and have that feeling a lot. Never connected it to stress, axiety or any other feeling really. Much rather, these things tend to happen when I am in a completely neutral or "blah" mood.

That happens to me quite often. It used to be very stressful when I didn't know what it was. Nowadays when I know what's going on its easier to simply wait until it passes. But of course, it's not fun.
