P M 's and Chat rooms.... I love it when you go into a room and say hello and you wait 3 or 4 mins , for a Hi response ...Doesn't take me that long to Type H I and I slow typer.

So If you are in P M in chat room ,,,, put your I need personal attention butts in clear or away status so others don't waste there time and typing skills on those that wish not to join in chat .......or better yet ..... Go make a room for you insecure one on one prowling or whatever the ache a pain a day is .....

Sorry if it sounds like I am a bit peeved .....I am.

Those that sit in 2 rooms are also a trip.>>>>> RUDE !!

What is the point of CHAT ,,,, if all you want to do is get just one peeps opinion ..or..????

(((wm))) I am sorry you are having a problem in chat. I too have gone into a chatroom and nothing said to me when I go in for several minutes. when that happens I normally leave maybe with my feelings hurt.

I'm not sure, but with some chat software I've known you show up where you aren't :-) You could have been looking at the names of and trying to say hello to people who were "somewhere" in chat just not the room where you were?

I get suspicious when people are "that" rude that there must be something I or the software are doing wrong, usually the software :-) When in doubt, blame the software!

But Wm, why do you want to communicate with rude people??? :-) Isn't that a conflict of interest? They can't be rude if they talk to you, LOL, ruins their image.

P M 's and Chat rooms.... Point Perna is we come here for various reasons >>> Not all are inherently rude ,,, just monopolized by 1 or 2 peeps as s. o . p . = I had that problem of too many pm's when I was in chat for the purpose of chat >>> more than one opinion ,,, so contradiction in terms // or conflict of intrest is percieved by my words ,, I apologize to ya ,,, Actually even a thought or reply from someone you might never have had a convo with ,,, might , if paying attention ,,, might say something that hits a new thinking process. As to Dif opinions >>> not matter the source ,,, but the thought. P M 's and Chat rooms....

Hello wmd, I haven't been in chat for a while because I haven't been feeling very good. I have always found you good to talk with and I can't see why you would deserve to be treated badly.

I will say that when I go to chat I try to say hello to everyone but find it difficult sometimes when the room has loads of people in.

I do think that if two people insist on just talking amongst themselves it would be good for them to make a private chat room rather than being rude to anyone else that comes in the room.

Hope the rest of your day goes well. P M 's and Chat rooms....

P M 's and Chat rooms.... I don't sit for 2 minutes waiting to see if anyone will say, "Hi!." If no one in the room is talking in the chat box, I say ttyl and leave. It does feel ...like a slight I guess.

I'm more affected when I go into a chat room and no one notices! If they notice, they don't know to say Hi. Yes, it's something that sure has changed here at PC, we would never think to not welcome everyone into a chat just a year ago!

BTW with the new full page pop up window for PMs in regular forum...I have found my self using it, and then ending up with 2 windows open for PC.

(Added 15 minutes after above: I went to chat btw to chat...and yeah, there happens to be 2 members who are in both small chats. I mean, there are only 4 ppl in each room, and I and another came in after me in one! That means they were just holding the chat room spaces????? They say they are "multi-tasking." P M 's and Chat rooms.... )

P M 's and Chat rooms....I actually fussed about people in made rooms when new members came into a totally empty chat room enviros. What is the point of a non-protected made room and a totally empty main rooms P / C ......You would think the Welcome would be most important >>>> especially to a newbie. P M 's and Chat rooms....

I believe if a peep wants to be in 2 rooms they best try to make it a one room convo >> I thought we here for same reason ,,,, To know if we are posting a question to a certain peep they are actually in the room .. otherwise it resembles ignore ??? >> And as far as Saying Hi first ,,,, I use to ,,, now I just say hi to those that say welcome or Hello first >>> I know they are actually there.

Just say Hi and Jump right in....... unless you are in the support room, then wait for the appropriate time.

P M 's and Chat rooms.... Always say Hi as soon as you can. Some ppl like to set their font colors and all before saying Hi, but the chat server announces your entry, and saying Hi is really nice, imo.

The chat room rules are posted by DocJohn in the first forum on the list. I'll try the link here, but it's long: http://forums.psychcentral.com/showf...=5&o=2&fpart=1

The idea of being in 2 chat rooms at the same time has not been an issue before, as it was only used for a quick assistance for coordinating members or chats, and not used to actually sit and "chat" in more than one room. I wouldn't want the site to lose this capability just because some are overusing it. P M 's and Chat rooms....

While mostly people say 'hi' when I enter chat, sometimes people don't say 'hi'. Sometimes I'll say 'hi' to the group, or sometimes I won't.

If I find that people are conversing and I'm not really feeling like part of things I try and figure out what people are talking about and join in with the established conversation. It can be hard when people are having an in depth conversation and new people enter and want themselves to become the focus without making an effort to figure out where things are at and join in with what is currently underway.

Sometimes while I'm in chat I'll say 'going for a smoke, back in 5'. So if you enter the room and say 'hi' to me at one of those times - I won't reply because I'm not at my computer, yeah. That being said, the other people in chat will know I'm away if you ask them whether I've maybe left my computer.

I can only chat at work. If supervisor or someone like that comes into the room I'll just shut the window without logging out. It looks to people in chat like I'm still in chat (If I log in again it logs me in as a different person eg alexandra_k4385867). Happens sometimes.

I guess the thing... Is to think... That it isn't personal. While it can be hard to not get 'hellos' and while it can be hard to become a part of a pre-established conversation it is possible.

I typically find that the more time I spend making an effort to participate in others conversations...
The more effort those others will expend on participating in a conversation that I initiate.

Reciprocity.

yeah.
