Do you have bipolar or any other official diagnosis? i'd suggest to contact a doctor and/or therapist and explain what you're experiencing. Please do stay safe and keep us updated if possible and want to. Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @princesscookie19, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I don't hear voices myself, but people who do have told me that medication doesn't get rid of them entirely. Therapy can help you deal with them. Others have told me to ignore the voices, although I know that's easier said than done.

Stop substance use, sleep every night, antipsychotics. I hardly get them nowadays because that's what I did (though I haven't been doing the second one and I think that set them off yesterday).

depends on what is causing my voices. I have many mental and physical health problems where auditory hallucinations (voices) happen. please dont take offense at my use of the words auditory hallucinations, my location lumps all voices regardless of what kind of voices into this label. its just a label. it doesnt always describe the situation.

I am on a variety of medications that does stop the voices regardless of mental or physical problem they come from. for example my dissociative voices come from being triggered (dissociation is a normal response to a trigger here where I am) we address the trigger which is usually anxiety, stress, PTSD of flasbacks, memories, with antianxiety medication. those voices of mine that come form bipolar disorder are treated with an anti psychotic which stops those voices, Im also on some medications for my physical health problems that take care of those related voices. in other words for me medication is the key and works perfectly in stopping all my voices. the complicated part is finding what the cause is so that my treatment providers can adjust, make changes to the right medications that I am on. sometimes it takes time but working together with my treatment providers we usually do find the correct combination of medications to stop my voices.

Radical acceptance. Accept the voices are there and live with them.

Recognize them, know when it's someone down the hall making noise or a nurse on a computer watching tv.

Use mindfulness to be aware of them and simply notice them, but don't let them get to you. dismiss them as you would dismiss any other thought in a meditation. For this you might have to learn how to meditate.

Totally agree with the advice to try mindfulness. Don't try to suppress the voices. The more you resist them the stronger they get.
Read the book or watch the videos by John Kabát zinn and read mindfulness in general. It won't be easy, it'll take practice, but after some time, you'll be able to notice the voices without them causing too much distress.

Of course, if your problems are severe, you always want to follow your doctors advice and use medication they prescribe

Medication and reduced stress help me stop the voices. My diagnosis has been downgraded from schizophrenia to bipolar with psychosis. Because my voices have stopped.

My voices are cruel, especially the one who considers himself the leader. And they send pain signals to nerves/pain receptors. And they send signals to motor neurons to flip & spasm leg & feet muscles. They claim it "feels good" & refuse to stop. I am scared to tell a therapist about everything because it sounds bizarre & delusional. Only someone who has personally experienced this nightmare or has studied similar cases would be able to believe & help me. I have been suffering a great deal lately. I dream of finding out about a medication that can give me my life back.

@Breaking Dawn That's sad! No one should have to live like that. Are the majority of the voices inside or do they sound like they're outside of you? If the later, then I think there's a good chance medication could help. Besides that therapy can help with both. I've read that if most of the voices are inside then there's a good chance it's something like DID, OSDD, BPD, cPTSD, PTSD, or long term generalized anxiety disorder. Therapy can do wonders for trauma. Take care!

Hi princesscookie! I try everything too. Music and exercise are the best distractions. Sometimes I tell it to "shut-up!" Meds have helped a lot too.
