I have been extremely stressed the last month. I have relapsed with anorexia and depression. I am hearing things like a TV show or similar but there isn't anything on. This has happened before only it was just music. I can barely hear it so there is no way of deciphering what I hear. It's like it is coming from another room or even outside. There is nothing there. Should I bring this up to my drs
? I have an appointment tomorrow with my gp. I would have to call my psychiatrist though. I don't want people thinking I am crazy because I hear things. I don't want to be put on more meds. Just want the quiet.

Dear Buttrfli, I saw where you said your H doesn't want to be married anymore. This would fuel depression and make it hard for many people to eat--even people without an eating disorder. However, stress, and the possibility of a divorce is one of the most stressful things a person goes through , can definitely worsen any mh condition we already have. If it continues, I wonder if you could be given or if one of your medications could be increased temporarily or perhaps just having someone to talk to (like a therapist or a friend) would help? Can you make an appointment with your psychiatrist or go to a therapist without a gp referral? I can understand not wanting to involve the gp if you aren't comfortable telling them.

Buttrfl42481, please tell both of your doctors all of what you wrote above. It is important for them to know. I wouldn't panic, though. Such auditory hallucinations are not totally uncommon and can result from various things. I do, however, know how disturbing they can be because I've experienced similar in the past. I say "the past". I did tell my doctors about them and it was important that they were taken seriously. One therapist didn't. I eventually had to quit him partly for that reason.

Hugs

So Sorry you're struggling! Please do stay strong! i agree with the other wise and wonderful posters about contacting your doctors if possible. Hopefully it is not anything major but better Safe than Sorry i think. Just take things one step at the time and do not panic if possible. You deserve to feel better. Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @buttrfli42481, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I agree with the others. Your psychiatrist can't help you if you don't tell them what's wrong.

Stress has always been the trigger for my anorexia. I always knew when I was stressed because I lost massive amounts of weight cause eating made me feel sick & I hated that feel so I didn't eat. That created a vicious circle though for me because then I got almost like addicted to the weight loss.

Hope you get some answers & make sure you tell your providers the source of the stress. They can't change it but can help you process what is going on so maybe more meds aren't necessary

Back on abilify. Not what I wanted. I have been working so hard at decreasing and was planning on decreasing my other meds. I feel like a failure.

Think of the delay in progress as just temporary. When you get the issues happening in your life behind you, you can work on decreasing your meds again. The hardest lesson I have learned in my life is patience. Sometimes we can't make our goals happen as quickly as we want but that doesn't mean we can't make it happen when the time is right. Hang in there and please don't tell yourself that you are a failure. It was smart to tell your psychiatrist what was going on and if you told them that the voices were associated with stress, I think the psychiatrist might be more willing to decrease the dose again when your life settles down.

Added stress can affect our welllness. Sounds like your body needs what it needs and you are looking after yourself by doing what you need to.
