Hey,

I have been feeling disconnected from everyone and everything in my life. No matter who I talk to, I never feel a emotional connection to them. Even with people in my family.

It is feels like there is this invisible barrier between me and others that I just can't break through. Throughout life I just had 3 people I actually felt connected with but 1 died, one was my ex and the with the other one the connection is just lost.

I feel so trapped inside myself most of the time. My true self seems to be somewhere inside of me but I just can't bring it out. It is there but it is buried very deep.

I don't know what to do to change that to be honest. Therapy is something I am considering a lot lately. But everytime I want to call a Therapist to ask for an appoinment I just drop it because I don't really feel like these are problems that are worth to bother a medical professional with.

Does anyone know how one can get back their real self?

I disagree that your problems are not serious enough for a medical professional. Sometimes I feel disconnected too, but reaching out and talking to others helps me. You joined this site, which is a good first step.

Extensive research is being done in order to find out ways to handle anxiety disorder and depressive patterns for people who find it hard to communicate with others. If you find communication difficult, then start writing journals on your thoughts. When you will write your ideas on a paper, you will feel relieved and safe. Try meditating and visualizing yourself in a peaceful and happy state, you will see results in some time.

So Sorry for what you're going through! Please Do not give up! Hugs. i agree with you as well as the other wise and wonderful posters about considering therapy if you want to try. From what you wrote it seems like this thing is bothering you so i'd say it may be necessary to discuss it. It can take time before finding a good fit but don't let that discourage you from trying then. i Hope things will improve really soon for everyone. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @Whereto52, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

I think the problem is that your interests may be vary so much from theirs and those people might not be the right people for you. It could be that you have a serious fear of talking to others that comes with communication problems. It is possible that it could stem from generalized anxiety disorder or depression or undiagnosed autistic disorder. I don't know since I don't know you all that well.
