Does anyone experience buzzing and shaking under the skin? Mine start at my feet, work up my legs, and then can even go into my abdomen, chest, back, arms. It usually is non-stop in my feet and legs. It can be pretty rough when in bed. I've had anxiety for years, but this only started about 5 months ago. I was on anti-psychotic meds for psychoses for about 1.5 years, and then I quit them this past June. Do you think I have permanent neurological damage from those meds?? My family doctor and my psychiatrist tend to think it is just a reaction from quitting the meds.....but it is getting worse, not better. It is extremely disturbing. What do you think??

Hi @SandyWeb.

Firstly, I am sorry you're experiencing these distressing symptoms, it's obviously not nice. I have ongoing side effects from previous antidepressant and antipsychic meds, but different to the sort you're dealing with. Continue to hang in there, please. 🙏

I think talk to your doctor and/or psychiatrist again and ask them directly what they can do to help these symptoms go away. They should know shouldn't they? They're doctors? To me, it's not right that they can prescribe medications that cause these kinds of ongoing side effects and then downplay it as 'oh, it's just a reaction to quitting the meds' without even helping you. It's been 5 months of side effects! Be weary that they might suggest going onto some more meds in an attempt to resolve your problem, though. Of course, whether you agree or not to try different meds is ultimately up to you.

I don't know if you have permanent neuro damage, maybe it will eventually go away, I don't know.

That's all I can think of to suggest SandyWeb, I wish I could think of something better. Those are my thoughts. 🙏

Thank you.

Hi mote.of.soul. Thank you so much for your response. I am sorry you are experiencing after-effects from meds, even if they are not the same as mine. Nobody wants their bodies to be failing them, and it's difficult enough to deal with what the brain is doing to us. But I have to tell you this. The body sensations slowly began sometime in the Spring, and progressively got worse. I think when I wrote this message about body sensations, I must have been peaking. My WHOLE body buzzed 24/7. It was extremely distressing. I hope this will be good news for you and others who are experiencing body sensations brought on by meds, but mine have practically disappeared overnight....for no reason at all. I have not changed anything in my life. I still get some mild sensations in my legs, but absolutely nothing like what my body was going through.

So...to give hope to anyone reading this....it is always possible after a lengthy time frame that the sensations will diminish or disappear completely. I think mine are going to go right out the door. Praise God! Life was very difficult living like that.

Hold on, everybody. It may take a year or more...it may depend what meds you were on and for how long....but it DOESN'T mean the sensations will be with you forever when you are off the meds. I'm a testament to that.

I hope this message encourages some people that there IS reason to hope for a better future without body sensations.

Have a wonderful day!
