I'm not normal. I'd rather die than be like them. Those who forced this on me it's a gift. Anyone else thankful for the gift they've been forced to accept ? I am. I'm very thankful to never be normal. I'd seriously be disgusted if I got In with normal. Untill I die. |

Sometimes.
I can say for a fact that when I’m good - I’m realllllly good & I know what NOT to take for granted that other people don’t. Other times I feel like I’ve been shoved in a box. Balance, right? Hahahaha |

I used to want to be more normal as a kid so I could have friends.
Now I am able to embrace the weirdness that is me. |

I am autistic and masked heavily as a young child/adult to the point I'm not sure whether they were seperate identities or not. I was relieved to acquire a neurological condition in my30s that meant I couldn't work any more cos then I didn't have to pretend I wasn't someone else just get through a work day everyday!
Now in my 50's and learning that a lot of 'neurotypical women' experience things like a change of personality as a normal part of peri-menopause I finally feel it's ok to be more myself and that I can use it as an excuse to 'drop the mask'. The pandemic has actually helped too and helped me to reconnect with the most important people in my life with much less expectation to socialise for the sake of being seen as normal! (just so don't get targeted or bullied for not having friends or being seen as 'weird') Now I'm simply the lady in CEV group who has to isolate and get more sympathy. From my experience sympathy is better than been considered 'weird' My neighbours know I'm CEV due to RA but don't know I have autism. Although I hated the physical restrictions on my life at first, moving here as someone with a physical disability, I found I got more understanding than when I was less physically able but still considered 'odd' because my social skills were poor but yet say 'I need more alone time due to autism'...people think you're odd...say you need to rest alot due to Physical /neurological causes and people are far more sympathetic!..and happy to give you all the space you need without marking you out as 'weird'. This is just my experience being autistic all my life but only acquiring physical issues later in life. |
