I read that book several years ago - it was interesting and sad. I would recommend it as a good book. I do not have the book any longer - I always ship the books that I have read off to my brother when I am finished reading them.

This was an awesome and really heartfelt book. I would recommend it to anyone. I had it somewhere but think I gave it to my mom. I wouldn't mind finding it and reading it again, it really teaches you about life!!!
We should start a book club and read books and discuss...good idea.

Actually more sad in the fact that they knew the old man was going to die and yet they established this marvelous relationship and then he was gone. Just the feeling of emptiness that it left me with.

Pita, the movie made me miss a dear friend who died too soon in my life. I would have said anytime is too soon. I felt like the movie was about living and I have seen a lot of death up close. Danialla, a book club would be great. BrnEyedgrl, what sorts of books do you like? I have been a bad reader for a while so maybe a book club would be a good idea for my shrinking brain.

Pita, just another thought, I cried during the movie. Morey was a real person and he tried to show people how to live while they were alive. He celebrated life. I have been too busy being sad and full of pain and I am in the process of taking control of my life. It means taking control of my health, my pain management, and being ALIVE today. For me it's simple things like taking daughter and her friend out to eat with my spouse as I had been ill today. That was the thing I could do as my daughter is home and I won't see her for a long time. I wanted a joyful moment. I want to build those joyful moments in my life.

By reading it, I learned that we as humans take things for granted sometimes. That we often put soo much into work that we forget what is truely important in our lifes, like friends and family. I learned that we should live life at the fullest and that we should always tell someone how we feel about them and not wait until it is too late to do so.

Having lost a friend to cancer a year ago this week, I never got to tell her how much she meant to me... For the last two months of her life I spoke to her twice. She was way to sick, I have my regrets. After she passed, I read this book and was blown away. I cried through the whole last chapter. The book reminded me of her! She always said that she would one day die, but that we werent going to talk about that day. She was alwys laughing, always smiling! ALways telling others not to cry! Just like Morey did in the book. He didnt want people to be sad, he wanted them to celebrate his life.

I now tell everyone that I care about how much they mean to me and I never waste the opportunity.

I love all kinds of books, like Tuesdays with Morrie and the like, but I also am into those awful suspense novels by James Patterson. They are so scary but I seem to not be able to put em down. Crazy!
Right now Ive started an awesome book called "Eat, Pray, Love". The author was on Oprah and I new then I just had to have the book. I also keep "Your Best Life Now" by Joel Osteen by my bed when I just feel like an uplifting book.
How do we go about starting a book club? Anyone? That would really help me keep my mind off of other things right now and I NEED that! Tuesdays With Morey

A book club would be great. I usually read non-fiction, so someone will have to suggest some fiction titles. Tuesdays With Morey

I can't do scarey. I am not up on books but why don't we start with Tuesdays with Morey even if people have already read it we can still learn from a second read and discussion. Why don't we aim for Monday the 28th to start posting thoughts and questions. I think Doc would prefer we do this in Social to save space here. I can post the first questions as I have many in my head already. Danialla, you are very well read so can you offer up a title for book two that we would like?

Rules I can think of are no romance novels, stick to books that have a message, whatever it is, No very controversial books like gender, race, politics. Maybe the type of books should be those that get us thinking.

I love May Sarton and read all of her stuff some years ago but would benefit from reading novels again. However I will say that she was a lesbian and did write of that in some but by no means all of her books. She was an awesome Maine writer and I am sorry to see her die. I was an avid reader of everything under my nose but nothing gets put under my nose now so this would be great. We also could take books on suggestion.

So, is everyone up to starting with Tuesdays wth Morey and beginning discussion on Monday after next? Also if people have desires for certain books lets start a list. I look forward to it.

Oh dear, I do have questions already re: Tuesdays with Morey which is why I want to read it.

How did/does the book speak to you around your mental health issues and how you live day to day?

Do you feel less frightened or sad about death as a result of reading this book?

What are your goals as a result of reading this book?

Do you feel that there are positive people out there we can get acquainted with who could positively influence us?

Do you feel able to physically and emotionally care for a dying loved one? Would it be more or less difficult then caring for a stranger and why?

Do you fear death and why?

What did Morey want us to know about dying?

Do we feel we have learned anything new about keeping our deceased loved ones closer to us in our hearts as a result of reading this book?

Does anyone have a book idea about birth since we are starting with death?
