I use positive affirmations too. I have made a list which I got from reading many, many books. I keep it at home and copy in my wallet. It is so helpful. Best to you!

I haven't done those for a while. I should get back to it.

At one intensive outpatient program, they had us write a positive attribute of ourselves for each letter of the alphabet. My favorite was x. I made up the word "xenophilic" - someone who loves differences (opposite of xenophobic).

I found positive affirmations to be helpful as a focus during my highest times of distress, as well, Aviza. Rather than let my mind/emotions run completely away on me, finding an affirmation, almost a 'mantra' really, something to redirect my attention on, has gotten me through many difficult times/situations relatively intact - other times not so well, but they can be very useful, yes.

I was just reading about this. Even if you don't believe the affirmations at first, if you practice saying them out loud you will come to internalize them.

I have been able to use them with great effect, for a long time now. They work to reduce my anxiety, mostly. But they can also help change my thinking from unhealthy, dark thoughts to better ways of analyzing a situation.

Using positive affirmations is the best way to keep oneself positive and motivated. I have been practising self-positive affirmation exercises for the past two years. It has worked miraculously.

Positive affirmations work great. I have been practising these for the last few years and I am a better person now. I no longer feel depressed and am ready for all life challenges.

Interesting thread! I’ve just started doing this as well. I found mine on Pinterest: all my wildest dreams are coming true. Even if it doesn’t happen, it sure beats the negative automatic thoughts (that also might not happen).
Thanks for this!

My whole life is positive so I haven't found the need for positive affirmations but I sure understand the need when life isn't like that

For me, it was about combatting the criticism I received from my parents as a child.
