I question and answer myself but it’s not even real questions. For example in my head I will say, “My stomach hurts.” When it actually doesn’t. “Then I will say in my head why doesn’t hurt.?” Then in my head I will say, “I don’t know it just does.” Am I going insane?

Sounds like it could be intrusive thoughts. You’re not going insane, they’re quite common

@Raven1976

No. Going by what you described, I don't think you're going insane. I mean, I'm no 'psychoanalytical expert' but you're holding a conversation in your head. That's it. And I'm very convinced a lot of people do a similar thing, as well. I'm always catching myself out talking to myself in my head or even out loud sometimes, but I ask myself "where is this going?" and then I just stop. I let it go.

It's okay.🙏

Sometimes anxiety can manifest as stomach troubles. Do you think it might have something to do with that?

But I’m actually not having any stomach trouble. Sometimes these thoughts say I’m cold as well when I’m not. It’s very bizarre. This stuff didn’t go on in my head 5 years ago. For 5 years I’ve been bombarded with thoughts telling me things. Even names. Schizophrenia has been ruled out.

Is 1976 your birth year? If so, I'm wondering if it could be related to menopause. My mom started experiencing a lot of new psychiatric symptoms around menopause.

Oh okay, so it started five years ago.

Did something significant happen back then or leading up to that time? Or did you start taking a certain medication back then? Or what about therapy - did you start exploring the mind leading up to that time?

Because as downandlonely suggested (above): maybe something triggered these, what seem to be more along the lines of, yes, intrusive thoughts. And if they're causing you distress, the first thing that comes to mind is speaking openly with your doctor - which I suppose you probably have already.😌

I do this too. They are intrusive thoughts, as others have said.

I frequently talk with myself. It's the only way I can be assured of intelligent conversation.

It's a joke, folks. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

🤣🤣🤣

Do you have alters?

I always 'talked to myself' in private and when I got dx with autism assumed it was connected as Autism can cause dissociation and in some cases a tendency a live in fantasy....and 'masking' (having a social mask/more sociable persona) is common in autism too but it was never more than that until I hit peri-menopause.

With the mood swings and hormone levels going crazy I started getting much more personality shifts and switching personalities several times a day.

It's calmed down a bit lately as I seem to be coming out of the other side of peri..and going 6 months or more without a monthly cycle.

I'm unable to go on HRT due to family history of cancer and stroke risks having already experienced one blood clot and lympoedema (sp) ...leg swelling ..... but looking back most of my worst symptoms including physical stuff like hot flushes and bladder issues were back in my 40's when I didn't actually realise the peri had started!

There is a type of schizophrenia triggered by pregnancy and also by going through the menopause ....not saying you have that but my point is....if menopause can cause a woman with no existing dx to get schizophrenia what else could it trigger??? ...the hormone shifts directly affect the brain!

Many mention a great increase in anxiety levels, my Tinnitus has got worse but with the covid vaccines too and I have had covid too I can't be completely sure which one of them has made the Tinnitus worse.

You may have intrusive thoughts but they say that having 100,000 thoughts a day is normal.
