I have a lot going on in my life including a new diagnosis (DID), and I think I might be overwhelmed to the point of feeling numb. I don't know what to do with myself half the time and the distractions haven't been working.
It doesn't help that I'm alone most of the time and all of my friends live in different states than me.
I've just been going through it.

What you are feeling is a normal reaction to being overwhelmed with all you are experiencing. Yes, sometimes distractions help but you need to throw some patience in there & tell yourself it just takes time to normalize all this information into your life & your feelings right now are a normal reaction rather that fighting them....process them

It's not a silly question, I think it's a new terminology. I came across a video recently of someone who has it. And then I forgot what DID was. Here's a definition of it: Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is a mental health condition. Someone with DID has multiple, distinct personalities. The various identities control a person's behavior at different times.
Thanks for this!

Correct....it used to be MPD (multiple Personality Disorder) in previous DSM'S
