I was going to tell you how I accidently found what I need to lift some of the blues I've been feeling from not getting a good night's sleep because of my husband's insomnia and the cats jumping on me, but I realized that to tell you about being at the nursery, looking at the flowers, deciding which to plant, might not be very nice as most of the people here are mired in rain and snow.

So I won't. I was going to tell you

Yes please - I love flower stories, I can't wait for spring so I can start planting. I need to think about summer to get through the next cold snap.

Fortunately for me I live in California. Making the choice between so many plants and flowers and then taking them home to make a beautiful garden is one of my favorite things. and it always boosts my spirits. Simply working in the yard does too!

Ok. If you insist. I decided to treat myself to some flower plants because it was a sunny day after a lot of rain. So as I was walking around the nursery, I suddenly got such a sense of wellbeing. And I remembered how the Romantics used to talk about going into Nature for your Soul to be restored.

I just wanted to rush back home and share with you all, but then I realized that it would be a while before a lot of people would get some sunny spring weather and I didn't want to make you feel bad. But I can't wait til you get Spring, because I know that it's going to lift your spirits.

It seems like in cold winter places, that flowers are more brilliant and grass is greener because they have a shorter amount of time to bloom, so they give it their all. Do you think this is true?

OK, count me in on the waiting-for-spring side.

In case you need extra help being grateful for where you live, Milwaukee is expecting -- this is NOT a typo -- 18 to 20 inches of snow in the next 24 hours. I was going to tell you

This may be the first time since I've been here "up nort" (14 months) that I'm GLAD I moved outta there!
