12 days ago when I was reading my head started focussing first on specific words and then on speech sounds that occur very frequently. Since then I am almost always focussed on these words when I hear people talk or when I'm reading. I'm constantly waiting for these sounds or words to come up and the language doesn't just flow anymore like it did before. This lead to growing fear, anxiety and panic that I will never be able to live normally again.
I'm longing for somebody to tell me that they have experienced the same or a similar thing and to finally believe that there is a way out of this state. Can anyone help me? |

Hi Lichtblick. Language is an obsession of mine when I'm psychotic, it gets very very plastic and it can turn either exhilarating or scary very easily. Antipsychotics do the trick for me... is your pdoc aware of your situation? What has he prescribed? Sorry this is causing you trouble. Tc.

I know what you mean, but for different things. For me it's patterns in steps, counting, or intonation type things. Don't worry about living normally again! Eventually your brain will move on. Sometimes I feel like our brains really are like computers that get stuck on a screen and it just takes a while to get going agin, but then works just fine.
