Do we have to share the paperworks saying what we got disagnosed with? Or is it a case of "everyone believes what your disagnosises are, unless you behave in a way that causes others to think "is this member a liar liar pants on fires"

I think it depends on the circumstances. If you are trying to be excused from jury duty, for example, then you definitely have to provide a letter from your psychiatrist. But my psychiatrist didn't write my exact diagnoses on the form, he just said I had a "medical illness" and was undergoing treatment and that was enough to get me excused.

Generally, it is my understanding that no one has the right to ask you for your specific diagnosis. But I could be wrong. I don't work anymore so I'm not sure at all what the rules are in the workplace regarding disclosing a medical diagnosis. But I hope there is some robust protection for the employee.

I'm sorry if you are experiencing problems because of this, feline!

No there’s no proof (or even a way to prove) required, and of course many people here don’t have a diagnosis or sometimes diagnosis can change or no longer apply.

We just have to take each other at our word.

We have to take each other at face value. It seems that people care about you here (the people who know you anyway)

No one is required to prove anything or in fact have any diagnosis at all. It’s not a requirement

Some of us HAD a diagnoses that was situational & have healed from it & through therapy I got my life back together better than ever before. Hung around to put my 2 cents worth in now & then from a healed perspective

Fuzzybear, you said what I was going to. We take each other at face value. No one has to prove they have a diagnosis. They don't even have to have a diagnosis.

True....Like other forums online, for mental illness or whatnot, people use screen or usernames, not their real names. And even then, I don't know how one would prove anything. Or need to.
