Psychology expert: 8 signs you'''re an ambivert—they'''re '''more successful''' than introverts and extroverts

I do not know if it is scientific, but to me this rings exactly true and stops the many decade long question "So, in which camp do I belong?"

Because to me, the answer was always "neither".

I like this. And i am like this too. Or like when people say, are you detail-oriented or big picture? Pretty sure i can see both, duh! When i took the GMAT (as an older person), i scored 93 verbal and 94 analytical, which resulted in a 97 pctile overall, because usually people do not do as well in both areas.

I need to look up my scores from more than 20 years ago. I am pretty sure I had a similar result, leveraging the fact that people typically do one, but not the other, well. But I was a young person and had that advantage.

I could never figure out if I am introvert or extrovert.

I can’t say that I am more successful than others lol but I just neither of those two. I like to socialize but like time alone too. I can talk to anyone about anything. Yet I like quiet time alone too. I don’t and never had a lot of friends yet I am always involved in social groups.

I hate quiet type of jobs and enjoy the loudest and the fastest pace possible. No working from home for me. I perform better in crowds than alone yet I must have time to myself and require lots of personal space.

I guess I might be both too?

It turns out that there are also Pigeons, circadian rhythms-wise. Not night owls, but not larks, either. Something in-between. I have heard that they are in the majority. 70% of the population. Until my sleep difficulties set in, I was probably a pigeon.

I did the Myers Briggs test many years ago and what sticks in my mind the most was my score in the Introvert, Extrovert access. I was literally in the middle. The woman leading the workshop said she'd never seen anyone with my result before and told me to pick I. I do think I skew more to introvert but most of my jobs were more on the E side. And in my job now I just talk to people for my entire shift.

Actual MBTI doesn't look at social extroversion/introversion though. Socially, I swing between extro/introversion, but with MBTI I'm an ENFP because my primary function is EXTROverted intuition (Ne), so cognitively extroverted. It's supposed to look at cognitive extro/introversion which is the way your primary function (thinking/feeling/sensing/intuition) is displayed. It's only the really dumb basic tests that are like, "you like parties, sex, have emotions, and were late once so you're an ESFP" that go that route while it was never intended that way. ESFPs in actuality just lead with extroverted sensing (Se) which means they're good at being present in and interacting with their surroundings. An INFJ or ISFJ whose secondary function is extroverted feeling (Fe is basically a "people-ing" function) will probably be more socially extroverted than an ENFP who is considered an extrovert due to Ne and has secondary Fi (introverted feeling).
