i had surgery yesterday to get the vns therapy pulse generator implanted. it went really well. it came quite fast after i won the battle with my insurance company for coverage on this.

it will be turned on in 2 weeks. i pray that this works.....

I sure hope the nerve stimulator works wonders for you! I know it's helped a person I used to work with. It was a godsend to her and cut her seizures by about 95%...amazing!

Glad the surgery went well for you!

Its also used to treat severe depression. I was approved for the implant 2 years ago, but couldn't find a local surgeon willing to implant the device. Hope it works well for you!

yeppers. you can definitely call me a bionic woman. it is similar to a pacemaker. it is hooked up to the vagus nerve in the neck, which runs into area of the brain that needs stimulation to help with treatment-resistant depression.

There is a lot of research going on for this type of thing, and what this nerve can do for and against us (so to speak) and I have much good wishes for your success!!! just got back from the hospital

we hope the result of the surgery is all you wish for just got back from the hospital

that vagus nerve is like the Jesus nut on a helicopter just got back from the hospital
(hey, no blasphemy intended, we don't know another name for that bit of a helicopter, but there probably is one, lol)

OT Ok ok...my son flies a Chinook... no offense taken. (It's just a main nut that holds the rotor on, you know?) It's name is taken from the last words a pilot will say when and if it comes off... just got back from the hospital

lol. oh, yeah. it seems that way, doesn't it? hehe. interesting.

i'm recovering nicely with a ton of snow piling up around my house. lol. it's up to my knees and over my dog's head.

I work with people who have VNS implants...theyre amazing! I just know its worth it!
