Lately I been hearing about how various towns, cities, Countries

have been testing the drinking water supply. Well this is what

they have been coming up with. Trace's of Psychiatric medications

anti-biotics, and various other types of Medications.

Now there saying don't flush or dump any type of left-over/unused

Medication down the toilet/Drain. I guess the water filtration

systems are not filtering out these meds....hmmmm makes you

Really think... Medication in the water supply... If medications are not being filtered

through water treatment supply plants...then who knows what the

hell were drinking? I usually try to drink bottled water. But

many times I can't get out to get it. I've read about this

situation on-line, in the newspaper, and I have heard it being

discussed on TV, the news, and The View a popular talk show

started by Barbra Walters.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? I also heard many of the new water filters

that are sold on the market that removes lead and other harmful

chemicals/toxins do not have the ability to remove medications.

Another thing is that are bodies do not completely remove all of

the medications we are using, thus excreted thru our human

plumbing right back into the water supply.

Are you taking another persons medication thru your Water supply?

Please let me know what you think? Have you heard the same, or

have read similiar articles concerning this issue, and, What's

your Opinion?

Personally I don't like it...but it sounds very believable????

Yeah I've read news articles around medications being found in water supplies - that's one of the reasons why it's so important that if you have old meds to dispose of you take them to a pharmacy for proper disposal.

Buying bottled water isn't always a great solution either - you really have to read the labels. Disani for example is just regular tap water that's been extra filtered - it's not spring water.

I think we have to start taking the protection of our water tables much more seriously than we do now. I've read predictions of freshwater shortages for parts of the states within the next 20 years. Pollution can come from many sources but one of the main things I try to fight against is development along key watershed areas. It's a big issue right now in ON.

Yes I read that and I guess I'm concerned, but not super. If people have been drinking tap for years and years and we just now found out about this, whats the big deal? Hey I also heard that there is some anti-anxiety meds in the water.... maybe i should drink an extra 8 glasses a day and I will rid my anxiety forever!!! (just kidding)

It's not unused meds being flushed, it's all meds that all of us are taking daily, and OTC stuff, etc. going through our bodies (when we pee, etc. :-) The medical news guy said it's equivalent at the moment to a sugar cube being dissolved in an olympic swimming pool of water, not a problem yet but "new" because there has been a huge increase in the amount of meds everyone is being prescribed/taking the last 10-20 years.

They don't know "what" so they don't know how to fix it because it can't be imagined properly yet, nobody knows if it is doing us harm, etc. They're studying fish, who have been living in this stuff for that long, monitoring changes in them, etc. but who knows what it might or might not be doing to humans? If you can't know what to test for in any given area, how do you build a filter for it?

Eh, I live in the city-- medication is probably the best thing that's in our water.

Hey, maybe I won't have to take all my psych meds anymore, if they are already in the water. I'll have to ask my pdoc about that one.

Estrogen is one thing that is found. Results in an increase in man-boobs? Whos to say... Prozac is another (found in water supply in England).

And then... There is the controversy over flouride in the water.
One side is: prevents tooth decay
Another side is: sedates a population (worked quite well in army populations to that effect). Look at the civil unrest with govt. etc in populations with flouride in the water... Whos to say.

I've heard that if people drank tap water (that is perfectly drinkable) and donated the money they spent on bottled water to the appropriate charity... Then we would have enough money to sponser clean drinking water for all.

Interesting thought...

LOL Pink glad your lookig at this from a funny view...But I've

heard it so much lately. From anti-depressants to estrogen.

Buying these water filters to from what I hear doesn't help.

And yes Perna I heard that you should take your old meds to the

pharmacy for disposal.

Split imagine yes are bodies kidneys, liver, doesn't metabolize

the drugs people take, hence they are excreted through are urine

right back into the water supply.

Thanks for your responses on this subject if anyone has anything

else to add please do..... Medication in the water supply..

There is a filter you can buy. I am not sure if it filters meds out. I will find out.
Bottled water you have to becareful of where it comes from. Sometimes as stated it comes right from the tap. Sometimes from a not so good area.
I think you can search your water supply threw goodle. At least i always have.
Plus in some areas letters are sent out when there is a issue with thier system.
"filtering it"
All water can be sent out and tested. Weather you are on a well or city water.
I will get the name of the filter.

I know that there is a whole bunch of crap in water, but I didn't know there's meds in there now. I rarely drink water and if I do it's bottled. I don't trust the water from my fridge because you can see stuff floating around in it.
