Just felt like asking that question. Saw the Big Purple Dinasour (sp) on Regis and Kelly this morning and he sure reminded me of Richard Simmons. All happy and jumpy. I lost I.Q. points watching that segment, but kids on the show sure loved him.

LOL!
I have no idea who Barney is now. But I think he's a bit too tall and deep-voiced to be Richard Simmons! The guy that used to play Barney died, though. How sad is that for the kids? Angela __________________ Soon I'll grow up and I won't even flinch at your name ~Alanis Morissette |

On the show this morning the guy playing Barney didn't have a deep voice. At least in my opinion. I didn't know the original guy died. But like Ronald McDonald--Barney lives on! I was ticked off in the early nineties when they replaced Lambchop's Playhouse with Barney. Argh!

LMAO It's been a long time since I've kept up with children's shows so who knows who Barney is underneath that purple rug! LOL Somehow I doubt that it's Richard Simmons, though. But watch it when you speak of Richard! LOL I just LOOOVE him!! He's so silly, stupid and funny!! Quite endearing as far as I'm concerned. But... hasn't anyone told him that Afros our out? hehehe
It WAS a shame when they replaced Lambchop, though! If I was sitting for any of my grandkids in the morning, I insisted that we watch her, but that was before "whatshername" died. Sorry. Her name escapes me right now. __________________ Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |

That's her name! Sherry Lewis. Thank you!
Yes, she died a few years ago from cancer. I think her daughter took over for her but didn't appear in the program. She may have been the one that produced Lambchop's Playhouse, but don't quote me. __________________ Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. |

Yes it was Sherri Lewis. I was a big fan. Did you know she was also an accomplished orchestra conductor? I always wanted to attend a concert that she conducted and that was my biggest disappointment when she died.
I loved her because she had a very cool sense of humor. Did you know she used to go to fancy restaurants and order lamb chops just to freak our the waiters and see how they would react? That is my kind of sense of humor. But that all came later, originally I just fell in love with Lambchop just like everyone else, she was just so cute and they were so funny. __________________ ------------------------------------ -- -- The world is what we make of it -- -- Dave -- www.idexter.com |

And on Judging Amy recently her mother was in a good mood and was singing this song that she had just "discovered" from one of her social work kids and was happily telling her grown children Amy and Peter about this "song" that "never ends". Both Amy and Peter, having young children of their own, immediately recognized it and had to run from the room screaming. That was the song they ended every episode of the Lambchop show! And I know people who are parents that really will run from the room if I start singing it!!!

Not just parents! lol I would run, too!!!
I had a friend that sang that blasted song, literally, until she was hoarse. It took like at least an hour and I was trapped in a car with her. Ugh. This was when we were middle or high school kids I think. I HATE that song!! __________________ Soon I'll grow up and I won't even flinch at your name ~Alanis Morissette |

I love that song and when I want to annoy my nephews when they are here I start to sing that song. They run screaming from the room. Kind of like when I put on Veggietales, my youngest nephew says Aunt Jan Veggietales make me want to puke. Barney makes me want to puke. He's way to sugary sweet for me. Give me the Wiggles anyday.

Uh oh, I really like that song, and you don't want to get me started singing it. I miss Lambchop too.

My mom use to exercise to Richard Simmons' show when I was a kid. OH! and I thought I heard him say that his hair had fallen out, so the hair he has now is actually a transplant.
Hey Dexter! Let's take out our frustrations with that song! I may be a bit off on the words, but I will start......... This is the song that never ends...it goes on and on my friends...someone started singing it not knowing what it was, now they will go on singing it forever just because....... (Next person! Take it away!) __________________ *And the sun shines rings around your smile.....and I'm here laughing like a child.* |

I always thought the song that never ends was from Barney. I guess you can tell I dont have kids.

They have sung it on Barney, too, actually. Barney just sings a little bit of everything.

It is from Lambchop's Play house (Or is it Lambchop's Play-Along?) The little donkey puppet sang it. I always thought that little donkey puppet had a bit too much 'tude for his own good.

That little donkey was kind of a brat, wasn't he? LOL Now I'm wishing I could sit in front of the TV and watch back to back episodes but with Sherri Lewis still on. Guess I'm feeling like a baby today. I need a bit of that donkey's spunk!

LOL! Donkey spunk, I love that! Maybe we could all use a little 'tude to kick us in the butts sometimes and get us moving. I know I could use it today. It is raining out, and I am stuck inside watching t.v. The window to the world. Though I don't think watching Grease 2 is very mentally stimulating.
