Apparently the smoking drug isn't doing too well with its side effects:

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
The report, from the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, points out hundreds of serious problems reported since the drug was approved in May 2006, including dizziness, loss of consciousness, seizures, and abnormal spasms and movements.

I thought these drugs had to be tested and trials done to prevent this kind of thing. Yet you hear about drugs being pulled all the time. What gives?

This is just the FAA (Fed Aviation Admin) saying pilots and crews can't use it, it hasn't been pulled. But apparently, from what I was reading about drug testing and how there's a movement to have a Federal line you can call to report side effects, they really aren't tested on enough people or over enough time to get all the side effects reported, etc. so they show up later and cause all the messes.

I took Chantix and it gave me severe major mood swings. My moods swings were way more than normal and way worse.

I did pretty good on chantrix, although I didn't quit smoking, which is a long story. My grandma got headaches on it and it effected her dreams so she quit taking it.

My addictions Dr. has become really wary of prescribing it to people, because of the number of cases reported where it has caused depression.

Looks like it's spreading, I just read this in HealthNews:

Examiners shouldn't give commercial motor vehicle license clearance to anyone currently using the anti-smoking drug Chantix, says the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which oversees the interstate trucking and bus industries.
