Just thought I'd mention that there's a remake of Sybil on this evening on CBS. Hoping not to trigger anyone though, just mentioning it for people who may want to try to understand it better or learn more about it.

I do realize though that the movie is different than in real-life?

It started at 9pm....and stars Jessica lange, Tammy Blanchard and
Jobeth Williams.....

I am watching it now. It is a bit more intense than the original, I think.

I've found this thread too late. I would have like to see it, although I can't imagine a better actress than Sally Fields.

Lol.. I am not triggered... really...

as a DIDer... it is the one movie I cannot watch... I remember watching it years ago with Sally Field.. and it literally freaked me out... I can laugh now... wasn't laughing then... because I thought.. "oh my goodness"

though.. I still do not watch movies.. with multiples in them... perhaps... good for other folks..if it is realistic.. and not sensationalized...though.. not so good for me...

I watched it and did find it kind of triggery, but not enough that I wished I hadn't watched it. I saw the Sally Fields version many years ago but don't remember it much.

I leaned around the corner from where I sit ... BFF had it on for her own insight ,,, I was fine with that .

But I also had trig land from the changing ,, switches ,,, others so able to be at the drop of a hat so to speak .

This was in actual time a very long road this Sybil had to travel ,,, and the movie was so condensed as for time ,, content ,, and commercials .

To reflect upon this insightful Place that this child endured would be IMO ,,, best discussed and rationalized with the peep that best knows your well being and mind set >>> i.e. Therapist ,,, Psychiatrist ,, or trusted Friend that has observed you for some length of time and you feel a connection and trust to maybe .

I give MY Friends in place of >> Why is this happening to Me My Most sincere LOve ,,, and hugs .

Even though for Me ..... >>> The trust and word of love and touch is a very distant place that at my age I still have problems with >> along with trust ..

Take Care ,,,,, and Share Your thoughts and /or concerns ,,, with the one or ones You Truley TRUST.

Very good advice wmd! Trust is precious, and easily lost, a thing to be treasured and protected. Unfortunately if you place your trust in the wrong people it does a great deal of harm.

Ok, I've looked it up on the web, how can a female play the role of T? Wasn't there an ... (pg 13 for general) issue with the T in the original movie and book?

Sybil's T was Dr Cornelia Wilbur...a woman. Page 13 of my copy of the book is part of the preface by the author, discussing why she helped with the book...so I can't check the specific reference you are referring too. However, In the book and the newest movie, there is a male psych that Sybil sees very briefly, he refers her to Dr Wilbur, for a "women's issue" (hysteria). There is a problem with this man...but it is mostly Dr Wilbur's problem...he is the main one that denied the existence of DID and made it difficult for Dr Wilbur to present (or even attend) at any professional meetings/conferences.

Ok, I vaguely remember an older heavier man that took advantage of her situation, I thought it was the T. I must be mistaken, I haven't seen the movie in years.

This made much more sense than the first one. Perhaps I also had more insight this time. I actually cried.
