Hey Roz...I hope you are feeling a little better.

I agree with everybody...I think shrinks get scared when their books don't explain us....or when they can identify with our feelings a little too much...when they realize that there is a very thin line between "them" and "us." When that line gets blurry--they get worried. But, that does not scare them near as much as when we teach them something....when we are the one that "gets it." And, shrinks, who are being honest and are paying attention, will have those moments where we make more sense than they do....or when we teach them something about life or about depression or whatever. Face it, who understands depression and mental illness more than us? We are the experts! Personally, I think the best shrink is one who is not afraid to admit when we have given them a gift or pointed something out to them. My shrink tells me when I help him see something in a different light--that makes me see him as human and makes me feel just a little less inferior or maybe even respected and valued as a human being. The shrinks who always have the answers and who never blur the lines between "us" and "them" are just scared of what they might find out about themselves. Well, that is just my opinion....of course, I really do hope my shrink is right the largest majority of the time, after all, that is why I pay him...
