Which as bizzare as it sounds when I describe it to you, is sort of science fiction...

In any case, it is some sort of future world sort of thing...
In order to prevent over-population to the planet, all of the children must pass a test to be born into this world... they have to climb up some stone steps, get onto a platform tell a little bit about themselves, and then slip into a little rectangular looking chute which I guess transports them to that planet safetely. This would be okay but... to the side of this stairway is the sun, and beneath it is a huge plummet into molten earth. If you aren't fast enough then you will plummet as the stairs collapse under you, or if you spend too much time on the platform then you will be sucked into the sun. In other words if you aren't absolutely perfect then you will be sucked into an inferno. An angel overseas all those who attempt this, though the wings are less like feathery wings like you would recognize but more like stylized bronze pieces that are when gathered together are in the shape of wings. The angel asks the questions, and occationaly does a little singsong when someone falls. Then my character person comes up (by the way this character looks and acts nothing like me, but hey), the stairs part was okay, it's only a few steps, but spent a little too much time of the platform it tilts, starting to get sucked into the sun, desperately clinging, crying out for help, for whatever reason the angel takes her hand and helps pull me into that little pit instead of acting apathetic like with the other children. She then became my angel. A person who I'd always admire. "Special" or "chosen" people (you pick the term) have a small burned mark on their body as their insignia. I had one, on my belly, and my brother had one on his neck. I thought his burn looked pretty cool, it was a like a brand mark and sort of in the shape of a butterfly, mine was in no paticular shape, charred and bubbly looking. Part of the dream was to go on some sort of quest...gor what I don't remember... part of whiuch was in a canyon, another in a creepy looking forest with the help of a brain-tree, but that's about all that I remember...or as far as the dream got anyways.

I wonder what it would all mean

Wow! That's an awesome dream. I wish I could help you decoding it.

You taking any tests or anything in school that has you worried? :-) Interesting juxtaposition with the sun being hot and "up" versus the chute being down to earth. And you get saved with a burn mark.

I've always liked the idea that we were "souls" before and knew and chose which life and problems to have before we were born. I also like the idea that we can learn from everyone we meet and meet them expressly to learn something important for us from them, that all are our teachers.

If it were my dream, I'd feel good about having secured the angel as my guide/helper and feel "special" in some way and like I was safe and would get through okay, like they do in books. You know how sometimes you can be reading and get anxious over the problems a character has even though if you think about it, you know he'll be fine in the end, will grow up or develop a better character for all his trials and tribulations? That's what I would take from your dream if it were mine, that I'm going to be okay and should just keep doing the best I can and there will be help along the way. Interesting that what you don't remember is "later" like after you're born and "shouldn't" remember as it would wreck the whole point of being alive and having the experiences we experience.
