I did manage to get well enough to spend Thanksgiving as planned with my daughter and her family at my aunt's lake house. As we sat there with the TV on, awaiting dinner, there was news of the Mumbai (sp) (Bombay), India bombing. I saw my daughter's eyes get big as she listened to this, since it is one of the places she and her husband were considering moving for an International Schools teaching job. They have been in contact with the IS schools there.
On our long drive back from the dinner, I told them of my concerns for their safety in considering these tenuous locations. The place they are focused on right now is Qatar (middle east). It is said to be "safe," but I
still worry.

I am glad you were able to have dinner on thanksgiving and voice your concern to your daughter.

Thanks, Gimme, Sweetie!
I tried to be balanced and fair in my conversation with them in the car...having them trapped in there with me. I said at one point, "I feel like saying 'NO, NO!, you can't go! and rolling around having a fit on the floor!" to which Mitch added, "You can leave that to my dad to do that!" I am the only parent with whom they've shared their intentions, and I acknowledged an appreciation of their sense of adventure and not wanting to be a negative influence.
They are doing a lot of research, and I suspect they WILL end up overseas somewhere. Maybe I can go visit.
Love

Sadly, India has daily attacks and has for years. This heightened offensive is more in line with Al quaeda than the others, targeting Westerners and Brits.

India and Pakistan have always been at war with each other-and their respective religions. That the two countries are actively in "peace" talks (meaning neither nuclear country will perform a first-strike on the other) is upsetting to the radicals. The radicals need instability in the world so they can overcome and make us all radical.

I hope they find a better place to go.
