Shakes, I think we ALL check "who's online". I do it even though I usually stay invisible (I'm a paranoid chica! lol!) I have felt like I'm snooping when I do that, too, though

Wow, I never realized that so many people felt the same about being seen checking "who's online." I'm embarassed to be 'caught' there too, especially when I realize that I had gone to "who's online" and not navigated someplace else when I got distracted.

I like checking who's online. From now on I will wave to Emmy when I see her.
 I understand so folks are private and want to be invisible...but heck, I read just about everything posted...so I don't mind who see's me. lolDifferences in personalities I s'pose. to everyone checking who's online publicly OR privately. And to those doing it privately....I seeeeee you.

You go to 'My Profile' at the top, then to main configuration> personal preferences, then you scroll down and it is just after the avatar section i think that it asks you if you want to be visible on the 'who's online' screen. tick 'no' and you'll be invisible.

Im the exact opposite ill purposely leave it on the Who's Online page cause it refreshes on its own every 30 seconds or so. Tho i do notice when i see someone else peaking heh.

I'll wave back, too! It was this event that made us discuss the idea of being able to talk back and forth at that time, but DocJohn says go to PM and then agree to meet in chat. Some things he just isn't up to speed on sigh how it would be SOOO neat to have that ability to say hi when we see someone on line we "know" too...
I often check who's online but I don't do it to be nosy, but if I've sent someone a PM or want to catch someone for chat... if I'm worried about another member... often we come in (as members) and don't post, don't go to chat and no one knows we're still breathing... checking online just helps us keep the anxiety level down. (Yes, I do use the "notify when read" option when I send some PMs.)

Although I feel funny when I realize someone can see me checking who's online, I find it comforting to check there, and know that friends are here with me. It makes me happy to see familiar names there. Then I know I'm not alone.

Just wanted to say that the "Who's Online" isn't a moment by moment accounting... it says last 15 minutes... (though I see it update more often) so just because I was in there and on the list, doesn't mean I'm still there to "see" you wave. Maybe no one sees.
[How is this for using "I" only statements? dumbdumbdumb
